Audi cuts the price of the Q6 e-tron with the introduction of a new entry-level version

With a price that in Spain could even sit below 70 thousand euros and a range of more than 500 km, this version is especially interesting.

The German manufacturer has begun offering a basic version of the Q6 e-tron with a battery pack of somewhat smaller capacity, with the resulting reduction in its selling price, in order to bring its electric SUV within reach of a larger number of customers. In Germany, this model is already available from 63,500 euros.

Besides the all-wheel-drive models of the Q6 e-tron presented last March by the German manufacturer, Audi then promised a version focused on maximum efficiency and range, as well as a more affordable option with a single electric motor and rear-wheel drive, accompanied by a battery pack of smaller capacity. The latter is the one the German manufacturer has just launched on the market, thus keeping its word.

The new base version of the Q6 e-tron features a 83 kWh battery pack, which integrates ten modules instead of the twelve found in the higher versions. The cell chemistry is the same, but with fewer modules the total number of cells is reduced from 180 to 150. The usable net energy is, on the other hand, 75.8 kWh compared with the 94.9 kWh of the higher battery pack. Audi promises a range for the base version of the Q6 e-tron of up to 533 kilometres under the WLTP homologation cycle.

It should also be noted that this battery pack supports a lower maximum charging power, of 225 kW, compared with the 260/270 kW of the versions with the larger-capacity battery pack. However, Audi assures that the charging time from 10% to 80% remains at 21 minutes, given its smaller capacity. Additionally, this model comes standard with an integrated 11 kW charger for AC charging, with around 8 hours needed to complete a charge using a wallbox.

Other technical specifications to consider

As for its sole motor, it is a permanent-magnet synchronous unit located on the rear axle. As might be expected, its power is slightly lower than that of the Q6 e-tron Performance, capable of delivering 185 kW continuously, with a peak of 201 kW when launched with Launch Control. The maximum torque is, on the other hand, 450 Nm, also slightly lower than that of the larger-battery, rear-wheel-drive version.

As for interior space and towing capacity, there is no change whatsoever. The boot maintains a capacity of 526 litres, with an additional 64 litres in the luggage compartment under the bonnet. The towing capacity is 2,000 kilograms, the same as in the Performance version, although all-wheel-drive models can tow up to 2,400 kg.

A curious fact is that the Q6 e-tron with the smaller battery pack is only 75 kg lighter than the Performance version, with a total kerb weight of 2,200 kilograms. The payload is 540 kilograms, which puts the Q6 e-tron’s gross permitted weight at 2,740 kilograms.

In Germany, at the official price of 63,500 euros for this entry-level version of the Q6 e-tron, an additional discount bonus offered by the manufacturer of up to 4 percent can be applied until the end of September. This brings its final price to 61,872 euros. However, it is currently unknown whether the German firm will offer a similar deal in other European markets.
