BMW X6 xDrive 30d 245 CV, test drive (Equipment, prices and assessment)

We conclude today our test of the BMW X6. This SUV coupe has been our featured vehicle in the road test section over the last few days. Specifically, we have tested the diesel version, which is the entry point to the range, a more than worthy engine offering 245 CV.
As for the performance, engine and handling of the BMW X6 xDrive30d, we discussed them in the first part of the test, while the design and interior finish were covered in the second part of the test. Now, in the third part, we need to talk about the equipment, including safety, as well as the prices and our overall assessment of this BMW X6.
Equipment

Within the equipment, we start with the safety features fitted as standard on every X6, among which the multiple airbags (front, front side and curtain), as well as emergency braking assistance and ABS, or stability control (DSC), cornering brake control, tyre pressure indicator, among other features, stand out.
We have no Euro NCAP data, because the X6 has never been submitted for testing, and in the case of its sibling, the BMW X5, the data dates from 2003, so it is hardly extrapolable to today. Even so, I have no doubt that the BMW X6 has all the elements needed to earn five stars.
The standard equipment on the BMW X6 is fairly complete, but its starting price is also high, since the entry version (this very one) costs 72,900 euros. Among the most notable standard features are xenon headlights with bulb daytime running lights (LED headlights are optionally available for 2,712 euros), mirrors with automatic anti-dazzle, light and rain sensor, rear view camera, front and rear parking sensors, two-zone automatic climate control, front seats with partial electric adjustment, 19-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, and the BMW Professional sound system with six speakers (though the USB port is optional at 370 euros), among other items.

Our unit also featured a comprehensive multimedia system: the Professional navigation system (2,746 euros) with internet connection, Bluetooth, voice control, USB and AUX, and the standard 6.5-inch screen, all bundled into the Professional Communication Package (3,999 euros). Another extra on our unit was the Sport Package (3,207.32 euros), which adds 20-inch wheels and sport leather seats.
Of course, the list of extras is quite long, and the final price of the car rises exponentially as a result.
Prices

- BMW X6 xDrive30d (245 CV) 72,900 euros
- BMW X6 xDrive35i (306 CV) 73,900 euros
- BMW X6 xDrive40d (306 CV) 76,600 euros
- BMW X6 xDrive50i (407 CV) 93,200 euros
- BMW X6 M50d (381 CV) 102,907 euros
Overall Assessment

What makes the BMW X6 so special? After several years on the market, it is curious how it still has a large number of devoted fans. It is not a recommended car for those wanting to go off-road, but on the other hand it is one of the most dynamic premium SUVs on the market.
That is where the main characteristic of the BMW X6 lies: its dynamism (together with its exclusive design). It is a sporty SUV; even this entry-level diesel version has more than worthy performance and excellent road behaviour.
Is the 245 CV diesel engine enough? Yes, even for those seeking sportiness with good performance and very reasonable consumption.

Its design is another feature that makes it unique, and for now it is the only SUV with a coupe design on the market. Inside, it is spacious for four adults, but the rear seats lose headroom, and the design is starting to show the passing of the years (an interior based on the previous generation of the BMW X5). Nothing to object to regarding quality, while sobriety remains the dominant theme in its interior.
Compared with the rest of the premium SUVs, the X6 is considerably more expensive, since they all hover around 60,000 euros as a starting price, whereas the BMW X6 starts at 72,900 euros, that is, 12,900 euros more than any other premium SUV. It is also true that it comes better equipped as standard, but even so, the price of that additional equipment does not come close to the price difference with the rest of the models in the segment. Without doubt, it is an exclusive car.
