Bugatti Galibier, hybrid?

CAR magazine has done it again. A few weeks ago they hinted that the executives at the Volkswagen Group had given the green light to producing this super-saloon, and now they come back with what they call a good handful of “official” data.

According to CAR itself, Bugatti will apparently build a limited edition of this model of just 3,000 units, each one fitted with an enormous W16 taken straight from the Veyron, a most exquisite interior with pieces made even from porcelain, a dual-clutch gearbox designed specifically for the W16 and, this last part is new, a hybrid option that would make it more manageable.

What is more, according to the latest statements from Wolfgang Dunheimer, CEO of Bugatti, the hybrid option must exist not only to improve the consumption of a vehicle of these characteristics, something that surely won’t matter to its buyers, but because of the requirement in some European cities that prohibits certain combustion-engined cars from circulating through their city centres.

As a side note, because of this two different models will be offered: one hybrid and the other “conventional”, since, as the CEO of Bugatti hinted, there are cities such as Dubai where nobody wants a hybrid.

Finally, according to Dunheimer himself, the production Galibier will share its production line with the successor to the Veyron.
