Chevrolet ends Camaro production with this special edition

Chevrolet launches a special edition commemorating the brand’s codename ‘Panther’ with the final collector’s edition of the sixth-generation Camaro

2024 Chevrolet Camaro Zl1 With Collector’s Edition Package

The Chevrolet brand icon, the Chevrolet Camaro, has released several special editions since its launch in 2016, such as the 50th Anniversary special edition, or avant-garde models like the Shock and Steel and Redline Edition. The iconic sixth-generation Camaro, known as the “pony car“, is bowing out of the market after nine years of production, offering a final special collector’s edition in the LT/RS, LT1, SS and ZL1 models in North America.

With its elegant, aerodynamic design, this model has won a large number of admirers throughout its history and has been one of Chevrolet’s best-selling and most successful models, together with its main rival, the Ford Mustang. The Camaro has been one of the best-performing models on the market, based on the Alpha chassis, which reduces its weight and improves its handling.

The brand has decided to say goodbye in style, modifying the ZL1 track version and adding unique modifications that pay tribute to the model’s history. Chevrolet has finally announced that orders will open this very same June 15 for the special farewell version, of which only 350 units will be produced.

Although production of this model is coming to an end, the brand wants to maintain its position for the future, so it will continue to compete on the track. The brand has indicated that it will keep bringing models such as the Corvette, Colorado and Silverado ZR2, Tahoe RST and the Blazer EV SS1 to market.

As Rich Scheer, Chevrolet Performance design director, puts it: “We felt it was fitting that this collector’s edition Camaro officially recognize the importance of the original codename and share it with Camaro enthusiasts.”

Despite the retirement of the sixth-generation Camaro, the company did not want to leave its fans with a bitter taste. Chevrolet is celebrating this farewell with the addition of a special package across a range of models that includes the base-level Camaro LT1, the Camaro SS with the 1LE package, the Camaro ZL1 with its supercharged V8 engine, and the Camaro ZL1 1LE.

This new version has been designed with a new Panther Black Matte paint, paying tribute to the first paint the Camaro offered from the factory, and includes decorative stripes in Satin Black. The wheels it fits are 20-inch in Satin Black, or the option of polished forged wheels. It also includes the front splitter from the 1LE package, and the coupés have received the rear spoiler from the ZL1 package.

Its exterior look is completed by red brake calipers2024 Chevrolet Camaro Zl1 Collector’s Edition, which complement the black wheels perfectly. All collector versions feature details that distinguish this special edition from all the others. A clear example of this is the panther integrated into the “R” of its script badge, a unique touch found on both the steering wheel and the front fender.
V8 engine for an icon
The Camaro looks incredible, but the true heart of this special Camaro edition is under the hood. It features a

6.2-liter V8 engine producing 455 CV

, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4 seconds. It also has a 10-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, offering impressive precision and speed.

The 2024 Chevrolet Camaro will be available as a coupé and convertible in the LT, LT1, SS and ZL1 versions. The 1LE will remain an option available on the SS and ZL1. Power for the 2024 Camaro builds will come from the 3.6L V-6, the 6.2L LT1 V-8 and the supercharged 6.2L LT4 V-8. The new exterior colors Riptide Blue and Nitro Metallic Yellow can be selected on all models.

This model, which, as we have already noted, begins production on June 152024 Chevrolet Camaro Zl1 With Collector’s Edition Package, has a starting price of $32,495 for the LT coupé and $38,495 for the LT1 convertible.
