Only a moment ago we were marveling at an asphalt beast like the Jeep Grand Cherokee, and a few hours later it is our turn to do the same with a vehicle that is, if anything, even more appealing to the general public: the new Chrysler 300 SRT8.

That said, this model may not strike you as much as it should, precisely because the designers at the American brand decided that, to differentiate their sportiest model, it would be worthwhile to fit the same front bumper that the European Lancia Thema uses.

Unfortunately, apparently this was done this way because Chrysler has no plans to launch a European version, so once again we will be left without the possibility of a 300 SRT8 or Thema HF in our country. At least we can always import it.

Setting aside aesthetic or differentiating aspects within the range, we will focus on what really matters: the change of its 6.1-litre V8, which produced 425 CV, in favour of a 6.4-litre V8 that now develops 465 CV and 630 Nm of torque at maximum, an engine that is without doubt far more appealing than the one fitted to the previous version.

As for performance, Chrysler claims that its new 300 SRT8 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 5 seconds. Unfortunately, the American brand has once again opted for a five-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters on the steering wheel, as well as the same active exhaust system that allows half of the cylinders to be deactivated, as seen on the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. Thanks to the combination of these systems, it has been possible to reduce fuel consumption by 25% in this new 300 SRT8.

Finally, it is worth highlighting some details mentioned in the press release, such as the fitting of an active suspension that adjusts according to the speed, steering angle, braking force and acceleration at which the vehicle is travelling, and whose level of intervention can be adjusted by the driver.

That’s all for now. I leave you with a new batch of official photos taken in the studio while awaiting its presentation at the New York Motor Show, where we will undoubtedly receive a good number of live photos that are far more attractive and detailed.
