Colibri by Innovative Mobility: the single-seater at the Geneva Motor Show

Don’t think that the Geneva Motor Show only has room for established brands. Although in locations that are generally further away from the central stands, we find plenty of curiosities. From bicycles, to this single-seat electric vehicle from the German manufacturer Innovative Mobility, called the Colibri.

The Colibri is an electric vehicle designed and suited for individual transport in urban environments or large industrial centres. It has a single seat and a small 180-litre load space, ideal for carrying from one place to another some of the things one would carry day to day. You will have guessed that the Colibri is electric, even though it has no family resemblance to the other electric vehicles we have seen, intended for similar use. At least it looks like a car and has some interesting features such as scissor doors, a touch system on the dashboard, or the aluminium chassis.

A few centimetres longer than the Smart ForTwo and a few centimetres narrower than the same Smart, it can be parked almost anywhere. But Innovative Mobility has also managed to fit into such a small space a 24 kW electric motor that can propel the Colibri from 0 to 100 in 9.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 120 km/h. Of course, this vehicle is not meant for racing, but for transporting one person from one point to another, so the range achieved is also fairly good for the figures typical of this type of vehicle: 100 kilometres.

The batteries can be recharged in about 20 minutes using a fast charger, of the kind already beginning to appear at some industrial centres. In line with the development of charging networks (slowly in Spain), its creators intend to produce 17,000 units a year, starting next year.
