Dacia Sandero Access: the cheapest version of the model may disappear

The entry-level version of the successful compact may be withdrawn by Dacia due to low sales volume in recent times

Dacia Sandero Access

The Dacia Sandero has been with us since 2007, the year it was born as a small compact at an unbeatable price, and which over time has managed to become much more, becoming the best-selling car in Spain last year 2020 and also in 2019.

The current range that makes up the successful model consists of the Access, Essential and Comfort trim levels, and it is very possible that the Access variant will be removed from the Sandero range because, although it is a great commercial hook to attract customers, it does not accumulate enough sales to sustain itself, just as happens with the Kia Stinger that we told you about yesterday.

A less refined look

The Dacia Sandero Access has a fairly basic styling, made up of plastic-colored bumpers, steel wheels with hubcaps and an interior to match the exterior, in which, as a major drawback, we find no air conditioning either as standard equipment or as an option.

Dacia has already withdrawn this variant from the French market, so everything points to Spain being the next market where this Access will say goodbye. With an incredible price starting from 8,756 euros in its configurator, the entry-level version features as its most notable standard equipment front, side and curtain airbags, assisted emergency braking, a speed limiter, hill start assist and even automatic headlight activation, among others.

As for the dynamic side, under the bonnet is a 65 CV SCe petrol engine with 95 Nm of maximum torque, coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox and front-wheel drive.

However, all of this is not enough for sales of this model to reach a figure high enough for Dacia to discard the idea of dropping the Access trim, since market trends favor a more refined image than that offered by this entry-level variant.

In this way, if the rumours are finally confirmed, the Dacia Sandero range will consist of the Essential and Comfort trims already mentioned, and the Access version will be reserved for other markets where this trim is better suited to the needs of demand, which values its price over its reduced cost.
