Dacia Sandero, once again the best-selling vehicle in Spain

The year 2023 has come to an end, and the time has come to see which was the best-selling car during the year. In terms of figures, we find that over the past year a total of 949,359 units were sold, which, although it represents a 16.7% increase compared with last year’s sales, does not reach the one-million-unit mark.

Breaking that figure down a little further, we find that the private customer channel is the one that drives the market the most. A total of 419,528 units were sold to private buyers, while the business channel registered sales of 393,815 units. Finally, vehicle rental companies made purchases of 98,887 units.

The best-selling cars of 2023

But what most people want to know is which car was crowned the best seller of the year. In this position we find an old acquaintance, one that has already held this spot in other years. In total, the Dacia Sandero sold 27,951 units, which once again places it at the top.

Of this figure, 75% corresponds to the Stepway variant, the most adventurous version of the model. It should also be noted that the 100 ECO-GLP engine is the preferred choice of those who opt for this model. It is an engine capable of running on both petrol and LPG, so it deserves the ECO environmental label from the DGT.

In second place we find the SEAT Arona, which registered 21,639 units. It is followed by the Toyota Corolla, with 19,845 units. In fourth place is the MG ZS, which sold 19,818 units. The list continues with the Peugeot 2008; the Hyundai Tucson; the Toyota CH-R; the KIA Sportage; the Volkswagen T-Roc and the SEAT Ibiza, the latter with 16,644 units sold.

The most popular brands of 2023

As far as brands are concerned, the top spot went to Toyota, with 79,883 units sold throughout 2023. The Japanese brand is followed by KIA, which registered 66,245 units sold, while the third most popular brand is Volkswagen, with 63,871 units. Hyundai, SEAT and Peugeot occupy the next three places, followed by Renault and Dacia. Mercedes and Citroën close the list, with the last brand adding up to a total of 42,123 units.
