Discover the cars of "Fifty Shades of Grey"

2015 is going to bring a good number of films that will be genuine box office hits. I’m not talking about cinematic quality, or even whether they have any narrative value, but they will certainly be blockbusters in cinemas. One of those films is going to be Fifty Shades of Grey, the adaptation of the first novel in the saga that has been a bestseller all over the world.

Anticipation for this film is such that 45,000 tickets have already been sold, even though there is still a month to go before its release. I won’t talk about the lead couple here, since we have Cinetelia right next door for that, but I will focus on the cars we’ll be able to see in the film.

The luxurious atmosphere of the film will be reflected in the cars chosen for the lead couple to drive, as has been happening in recent Hollywood productions. The vehicles are an important part of what happens, so they have been carefully selected to reflect the film’s setting.

The first car that catches the eye is the Volkswagen Beetle, which the heroine calls “Wanda”. It is not one of the new models but a classic. When this car finally breaks down, because it is already old, the Audi A3 appears, a very popular car on our roads that replaces the previous one.

Then come the ones we are all waiting to see and that confirm Christian Grey’s status. The first to appear is the Saab 9-3 convertible, a gift to Anastasia from her wealthy lover, which arrives to replace the Audi A3 when it is damaged.

But the brand that appears most in the film is Audi. This is not because the Germans decided to place their cars in this effective showcase, but because the author of the bestseller herself decided that these are the cars that best define the character.

Among the cars Christian Grey drives are the Audi R8 Spyder, the Audi Q7, the Audi S7 and the Audi S8. There are also other cars that will surprise us. On screen we’ll see a 2006 Camaro and a Ford Mustang, as well as a Chevrolet Tahoe and a Dodge. These are the cars of other characters who, although they have good taste in cars, don’t reach the level of the magnate.

I don’t know whether this will make you want to go and see the film, but even if the plot doesn’t seem interesting, it’s clear they have chosen the cars that appear very carefully, offering that vision of luxury and power expected from these already iconic characters.
