Do you have a Volkswagen Golf for 190 euros/month, but is it really worth it?

Volkswagen has just announced an offer on the Golf, a model that is about to say goodbye and is offered for 190 euros/month, but what does the fine print say?

The renewal of a model brings a breath of fresh air to the brand and the opportunity to get a significant discount on the vehicle that is about to be replaced. This is the situation of the Volkswagen Golf, a vehicle that is about to hit the world with its eighth generation, which we were able to see a few days ago thanks to a leak. However, it will not be until October 23 that this new generation is presented, so Volkswagen has decided in the meantime to clear out the seventh generation of the Golf with a generous offer of 190 euros/month, but is it worth it?

The Volkswagen Golf has always been a benchmark in the compact segment, but its seventh generation was already starting to look somewhat outdated compared to the competition. However, a slight technological or aesthetic lag is no obstacle to buying a new car at a price that, a priori, is quite attractive.

What Volkswagen Golf do we get with this offer?

The truth is that the German firm is offering different deals on the Golf in our market, but this one we are looking at today is one of the most balanced. Behind this monthly payment is a Volkswagen Golf Last Edition -a special edition that mainly affects standard equipmentalong with the well-known 1.5 TSI EVO engine producing 130 CV.

This special edition includes as standard such interesting elements as 16-inch alloy wheels, a 6.5-inch touchscreen multifunction display and LED lights, among others. However, the cherry on top of this offer is found in the mechanical section, since the engine fitted to the featured Golf is capable of deactivating two of the four cylinders that make it up with the aim of prioritising fuel savings.

What are the terms of the Volkswagen offer?

Well, but before writing a cheque let’s examine in detail what this generous payment plan offered by Volkswagen entails. The first thing we need to know is that it consists of 48 instalments of 190 euros, a figure that does not reflect the VAT involved. The same applies to the deposit the German house requires of 3,471.09 euros.

On the other hand, Volkswagen requires an annual mileage not exceeding 10,000 kilometres. However, there are several very interesting details, as this offer does include maintenance, repairs and comprehensive insurance with no excess, costs that are very important to consider when buying a vehicle.

This offer cannot be matched with other financial institutions and will remain valid until 31/10/2019. Furthermore, Volkswagen does not quantify the interest we will have to pay, so it is advisable to visit our nearest dealership and carefully study all the implicit clauses in this offer.

But what other options are there on the market compared to the Volkswagen Golf?

Today many brands offer vehicles of similar calibre to the Volkswagen Golf at a very attractive price. Without straying too far from the German firm, Seat has the León, a model that has little or nothing to envy from its close relative and is in a very similar situation with quite irresistible offers.

If we want to move up a notch and continue enjoying a generous discount thanks to its imminent farewell, we could consider buying an Audi A3. If our budget is somewhat tighter, we can always turn to generalist brands such as Renault and its Megane or Ford and its Focus, two models that also offer a really attractive value for money.

On this occasion we have decided to focus on the Volkswagen Golf because of the immediate exit of the seventh generation. This will also mean there are several units in stock enjoying even more generous discounts, and the clear need on the part of dealerships to get rid of these vehicles will give us some room to adjust the price even further.
