Ferrari Testa Rossa J Pebble Beach Edition, a single unit paying tribute to Lucybelle II
The Ferrari Testa Rossa J, a scale version of the legendary 250 Testa Rossa, features a one-off called the Pebble Beach Edition that will be auctioned at the end of the month

A year ago, Ferrari and The Little Car Company presented the Ferrari Testa Rossa J, a 75% scale version of the 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa, the model with which the Italian company achieved numerous competition successes, including three consecutive championships from 1958 to 1961 and being the only Ferrari to take victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a feat it achieved on four occasions, also consecutively.
The Ferrari Styling Centre and Ferrari Classiche departments worked directly with The Little Car Company, a company specialising in the creation of scale vehicles under official brand licence, to create the scale Testa Rossa J, of which sonly 299 units have been produced, and which can be driven by anyone over 14 years of age, never on public roads. Now, building on this base, a one-off called the Pebble Beach Edition has been created, paying homage to one specific unit: Lucybelle II.

Lucybelle II is the name that drivers Ed Hugus and Ray “Ernie” Erickson gave to their 250 Testa Rossa with chassis 0732TR, with which they competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and which, as we mentioned earlier, won in 1958. In this way, just like the original model, the Testa Rossa J Pebble Beach Edition features a body painted in the original Bianco Cervino colour, combined with two blue stripes, accompanied by the number 22 carried by the original car, period-style racing lights, along with the United States flag and the name “Lucybelle II” hand-painted.

The interior of the Ferrari Testa Rossa J Pebble Beach Edition features upholstery matching the exterior, in red leather with white piping as a contrast supplied directly by Ferrari, similar to the leather used in its road cars, as well as sport pedals inherited from the F8 Tributo as a nod to its modern models. The beautiful wooden steering wheel is supplied by Nardi, the company that also made the steering wheel for the original model, and with an instrument panel also similar to the original, its gauges have been modified to display the different information available from its electric motor. The final touch is the commemorative plaque, which also indicates that this is unit “1 of 1”.

Mechanically, it has an electric motor with a maximum range of 90 km, which can deliver more or less power depending on the mode selected, something that can be done from the cabin using the “Manettino” inspired by that of the Ferrari 812 Superfast. From here we can select the Beginner mode (1 kW of power and a top speed of 24 km/h), Comfort (4 kW of power and a top speed of 40 km/h), Sport (10 kW of power and a top speed of 80 km/h) and Race (12 kW of power and a top speed of 80 km/h).

But mind you, the level of detail doesn’t end here, as it features 12-inch wheels identical to those of the original model, also supplied by the original supplier, Borrani, which are fitted with Pirelli Cinturato tyres. Add to that suspension springs supplied by Bilstein, which have been tuned and adjusted by Ferrari’s own test drivers at the Fiorano circuit itself. Not forgetting that the front and rear lights and horn are all fully functional.
The Ferrari Testa Rossa J Pebble Beach Edition will be auctioned on 19 August, and all of the money raised at this auction will be donated in full to The Pebble Beach Company Foundation.
