ë-C4 Citroen Electric Cars Compact
First images of the 2020 Citroën C4: the new compact now also with an electric version
Citroën has unveiled the first images of its new C4, a compact with a coupé-style silhouette that comes with a 100% electric version.

Citroën is pushing hard in the compact segment, where it had lost ground, with the new 2020 Citroën C4. It replaces the C4, which remained on the market practically unchanged since 2015, when it received its last major facelift of the version presented in 2011, until Citroën integrated the C4 and the C4 Cactus into its range as a single model.
Very soon, on 30 June, we will have more technical information about the new C4, and we can already see its exterior and interior design. Citroën has also announced that there will be petrol and diesel versions, in addition to the ë-C4 with 100% electric drive.
Compact, but with a very coupé-like design
These first images make it clear that Citroën has opted for an exterior line that departs somewhat from the norm in the category where it will go up against the Seat León, Opel Astra, Renault Mégane and Peugeot 308, among others. Citroën says this marks the start of a new era in design for the brand. Its card to play is differentiation, with a silhouette whose sloping roof recalls a coupé. Knowing how Citroën operates, this surely does not prevent it from offering an interior with good interior space or a reasonable boot capacity.

Of the exterior design we also highlight two very distinctive features: the shape of the bonnet, flanked by two creases that seem to be, or are intended to be, an extension of the line formed by the light clusters, as well as the protections the bodywork shows around the wheel arches and side skirts. The rear end is also striking in how the light clusters are arranged.
The dashboard is very well organised. We like that, despite the prominence of the floating multimedia screen in the centre of the console, a group of conventional controls for functions such as climate control is kept below it. The console between the seats is very clear, with good spaces for storing objects.
Engines of the new C4: petrol, diesel and electric
As for the engine range of the new C4, what we know for now is that there will be petrol and diesel versions… and an electric one, which the brand calls the ë-C4. The new electric C4 will be the fifth electrified model the brand has presented so far in 2020, as part of its electrification strategy. It joins the C5 Aircross Hybrid, the city car Citroën Ami, the ë-Jumpy and the new ë-Space Tourer.

Among the new solutions the 2020 C4 brings, Citroën promises a world first for the front passenger seat, aimed at maximum comfort. To this end, the new C4 will also feature the brand’s progressive hydraulic suspension.
