Foxtron begins sales of the Cavira SUV

With this move, Foxconn seeks to establish itself as a relevant player in the electric car industry, leaving behind its historical role as a manufacturer of third-party products.

Foxconn, the Taiwanese giant known for manufacturing consumer electronics such as the iPhone, has just taken a step forward in the electric mobility sector with the launch of the Cavira, an SUV developed by its subsidiary Foxtron. This model will initially be sold in Taiwan, Australia and New Zealand, with plans to expand to other markets later on. The Cavira is Foxtron’s second in-house production vehicle.

At 4.70 metres long and with a wheelbase of 2.92 metres, this electric SUV stands out for its angular styling and modern look. Initially, Foxtron will offer two versions, both equipped with an 82.7 kWh LFP battery pack. The entry-level version, called Emerge, features a single motor delivering 186 kW of power on the rear axle and claims a range of 538 km. Meanwhile, the higher-performance top version, called Pioneer, integrates two electric motors that together deliver 349 kW of power and allow this model to reach 100 km/h from a standstill in just 3.8 s. Range in this case is 538 km.

When recharging, both versions of the Cavira support a peak power of 175 kW, allowing the state of charge to rise from 10 to 80 percent in half an hour.

Feel at home

Foxtron aims to position the Cavira in the market as an “extension of the home”. For this reason, the cabin has been designed to convey a cosy and comfortable feeling, with an intelligent climate control system, ample interior space and dual V2L (vehicle-to-load) functionality that allows electronic devices to be powered, turning the vehicle into a true living space on wheels.

The interior of the Cavira stands out for its large 15.6-inch vertical central screen, a digital instrument cluster, physical switches for key functions and a very comprehensive standard equipment list, including advanced driver assistance systems, a 12-speaker sound system, ventilated front seats and even an integrated fragrance system.

Cavira reservations are already open in Taiwan, where this electric SUV will reach dealerships on 17 June 2026. Foxtron has opened 18 showrooms in the country, where its first in-house model, the Bria, is also on display. Sales in Australia and New Zealand will begin in the second half of the year.

This launch represents a strategic shift for Foxtron, which has traditionally focused on contract manufacturing for other automakers. After presenting several prototypes since 2021, the company is now committed to developing and selling vehicles under its own brand, although it maintains alliances such as the project with Mitsubishi and the joint venture with Fuso dedicated to marketing electric buses.
