From prototype to reality: the Porsche Mission E Cross Turismo will hit the streets
Porsche used Geneva to show us the Mission E Cross Turismo, a 100% electric model. Its production version will arrive at the end of 2019.

The Geneva Motor Show was tasked with offering us a series of very interesting new vehicles but, on the other hand, many brands also took the opportunity to show us the steps their models will follow in the not-too-distant future. Porsche has confirmed that every concept car that leaves its hands will become a reality sooner or later. This means that we won’t have long to wait to see a final version of vehicles such as the Mission E or the exclusive Mission E Cross Turismo.
This latest prototype is presented as a pioneer among saloons with off-road capabilities and, at the same time, electric propulsion. But the most interesting thing is not only its tuning and concept, but also that several executives of the German firm have confirmed that both models bearing the Mission E name will become a reality, and they have offered us a number of very interesting details.
Specifically, it was Jose Antonio Ruiz – Communications Director of Porsche Spain – who delighted us with several details about the company’s electric future. One of the things that concerns Porsche fans most is the design of both Mission E models, and Jose Antonio himself has confirmed that the line will be conservative and faithful to what we know to date, so we will most likely find a hybrid between a Porsche Panamera and a 911. This will allow the electric models to maintain a perfect balance between saloon and sports car.

But this means we will be facing two large models, since the production versions could measure close to five metres in length. This is complemented by an interior capable of seating up to five occupants and, at the same time, it will feature the brand’s latest technological innovations. However, what generates the most curiosity in a new model such as the Mission E is, without a doubt, the engine.
As the brand had already anticipated , the future of Porsche is clearly heading towards electrification, and the Mission E models are only the beginning. Both will feature synchronous permanent-magnet batteries capable of generating 600 CV of power and 500 km of range. Another very relevant figure is the ability to recharge 80% of the battery in just 15 minutes, a figure that outclasses every electric vehicle currently on the market.

Without a doubt, this is an idea that sounds like many years away from being in our hands, but that is not the case. Jose Antonio Ruiz has confirmed that it will be at the end of 2019 when we see the first production models of the standard Mission E and of this Cross Turismo variant, which implies an electric revolution within the German firm.
