Groups Chrysler and Fiat will not raise VAT in September

The brands that make up these groups are making this effort to try to extend the slight increase in sales recorded in August in Spain.

Alfa Romeo had already got ahead of the rest by confirming the news a few weeks ago, but it is now official for the remaining brands that make up Groups Chrysler and Fiat, as you know, the former owned by the latter. All of them will make an effort to make it a little less difficult for Spanish consumers to buy new vehicles. And the difference with other competitors that will not run this promotion may, in some cases, be significant.

None of them will apply the VAT increase to the prices of their models. That said, for the time being only during this month. In this way, both car groups could, if the commercial formula works, benefit from an extension of the rebound in registrations seen in Spain in August. Below we detail the advantages in each case.

Fiat states that by not raising VAT, customers can save up to 6,200 euros at most compared with if it had been done. The figure is lower at Lancia: between 280 and 1,175 euros; at Alfa Romeo the margin is tighter, between 350 and 775 euros; Jeep customers will do a little better, with discounts ranging from 560 to 1,900 euros; and at Abarth the difference will be at least 460 euros and at most 710.

To this action must be added the conventional discounts available in September, depending on the model and the dealership. Clearly it will be a way for Group Fiat to mitigate the drop in sales in our country, but it is surprising that they are allowed to do so when this consortium is not going through a good time in Europe at present. We will have to see whether the promotions work once September ends.
