Hennessey Venom 1200 Mustang GT500, the most powerful muscle car from the American tuner
Hennessey is back with the Mustang Shelby GT500 to create the new Venom 1200 Mustang GT500, which exceeds 1,200 CV and will be built in only 66 units

The Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is the most brutal muscle car ever created by the oval brand, something that has not stopped various tuners from extracting even greater performance from it, and at times even disproportionate performance, such as Hennessey, which specializes, among other brands, in the Ford models and managed to raise the power of the Mustang Shelby GT500 past the magic figure of 1,000 CV.
Renamed Hennessey Venom 1200 Mustang GT500, the Texan company has set out to take its tuning a step further, squeezing even more out of its creation and turning the Mustang Shelby GT500 into the most powerful muscle car ever built. The number included in its name should give us the first clue, so let’s go straight to see what surprises they have in store for us.

Let’s recall that the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 houses under its bonnet a 5,200 cc V8 developed by Ford Performance, which uses an Eaton supercharger to deliver a not inconsiderable 771 CV together with 847 Nm of torque sent to the rear axle through a seven-speed automatic gearbox. Figures that, although they are outrageous, now seem ridiculous compared with the work done by Hennessey.

For the Venom 1200 Mustang GT500, Hennessey’s team has replaced the supercharger with a larger one, specifically 3.8 litres, along with other upgrades such as a high-flow induction system, new injectors and fuel lines, and new belts and tensioners, all to get the V8 to an impressive 1,217 CV and 1,223 Nm of torque that is still sent to the rear axle through the standard automatic gearbox, which has been recalibrated to handle so much power. It is worth noting that the company recommends that to reach this power you must use high-octane fuel such as E85.

Beyond the mechanical modifications, the Venom 1200 Mustang GT500 remains unchanged and looks like any other Mustang Shelby GT500, although Hennessey can optionally fit a special livery that pays tribute to the Ford Mark II GT40, winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966, along with Hennessey vinyl graphics, which are not missing either.
If the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is already rare to find outside the United States, it will be even rarer to come across a Venom 1200 Mustang GT500, since the American company plans to build only 66 units worldwide at an estimated price of around 60,000 euros at current exchange rates, excluding the price of the Mustang.
