Here comes the Chinese electric hypercar: make way for the GAC Aion Hyper SSR
This Chinese hypercar stands out for several reasons, among them its three powerful electric motors, which deliver 1,200 CV, and its very competitive price.

Chinese manufacturers have shown that they don’t only make cheap cars aimed at everyone. They are also capable of presenting luxury cars that break with the most common performance figures. The GAC Aion Hyper SSR has already reached the market. It is a hypercar that can hold its own against the great European brands in this segment, but at a much lower price.
The name, or rather the model’s suffix, means something. The letters SSR stand for Super Sport Race, which already signals that its performance is going to surprise anyone who gets behind the wheel. It is designed to move around the track with complete freedom, with clean, simple and efficient lines.

Three electric motors
Where it really stands out is in the three electric motors it carries. These three units, working in unison, deliver a power output of 993 kW, which equals 1,200 CV. Peak torque reaches 12,000 Nm, so this is a car worth considering if you’re looking for thrills behind the wheel.

GAC AION HYPER SSR
With this powertrain, it manages to reach 0 to 100 km/h in 1.9 seconds, which brings it very close to the Rimac Nevera, the record holder at 1.81 seconds. This figure is achieved with the two most powerful of the three versions on sale. The lightest of the three has to settle for a “mere” 2.3 seconds.
These two most powerful versions are practically identical, although the top version of the three has a tuned chassis to deliver greater performance on the track.
As for the battery, it offers a capacity of 75 kWh, which may not seem like much for what this hypercar offers, but it provides a range of just over 500 kilometres, according to the Chinese CLTC homologation cycle. For charging, it uses a 900-volt architecture, which gives it very good drivetrain efficiency, up to 94.5%, along with a very short charging time.
No details have been given on this, but GAC Aion has recently presented its own 480 kW charger, so charging times will be quite short, allowing the use of this hypercar to be optimised.
GAC Aion SSR price
Another interesting point is the price of this model. The basic version of the Aion SSR costs 1,286,000 yuan, which at current exchange rates is around 160,000 euros. The mid-range version puts the price at 1,386,000 yuan, which at the exchange rate comes to 179,000 euros. To get the most complete and powerful version, you have to pay the equivalent of 286,000 euros.
It is a hypercar, so its price is high. But even so, that price represents only a small fraction of what a Rimac Nevera costs, which offers very similar performance. The difference must lie somewhere, of course, but with this model you can enjoy the experience in style for a much lower price.
