Honda closer than ever to electrification: this is the interior of the Urban EV concept that will see the light in Geneva
Honda has just unveiled the cabin of the Urban EV Concept, the latest prototype phase the compact electric car will go through before making way for the production model

The arrival of Honda in the electric sector was an event that would take place sooner rather than later, something the brand confirms with the Urban EV. This name corresponds to the latest prototype of the compact electric car that Honda has been developing for some time. In other words, we are looking at the version most faithful to the production model, which will be unveiled very soon. However, the Japanese firm has wanted to treat us in advance to the cabin of this concept car, with the aim of previewing the novelties we will find not only in the final version of the Urban EV, but also in its future models.
Honda is one of the most advanced brands when it comes to alternative energy sources to traditional fuels, so the arrival of a 100% electric vehicle was something that had to happen. After a considerable period of development and research, the Japanese firm is better prepared than ever to launch this latest phase of the Urban EV to the market, a model that is set to revolutionise the compact segment.
A cabin that lives up to expectations
Over time, we have witnessed how every brand has offered important innovations in the cabin of its latest models, and Honda has done the same with the Urban EV. Despite the undeniable prototype nature of the Japanese compact, we can see a series of components that are not far removed from the reality currently being experienced in the automotive sector.
At first, we find a new completely spherical steering wheel controlled by two side button panels that aim to make the infotainment system easier to operate. However, what is truly striking about the Honda Urban EV is its dashboard, which is dominated by a series of large screens.

The first, which in the supplied image shows the vehicle’s charge level, will probably be the one providing us with information about speed and further functions that we can add and customise. Secondly, we find the screen that gives access to the navigation system and connection with our mobile device, among others. Last but not least, we find a third one that shows information about energy flow and, again, the state of the battery.
The remaining components we can make out inside the Urban EV are not far removed from what we find in any contemporary vehicle. Elements such as climate control, air vents or cruise control are present in this prototype, a clear sign that the production version will keep a very similar cabin.
