Hyundai and Honda are not abandoning fuel cell and electric cars
Hyundai and Honda want to have several electric vehicle options ready, with different ways of generating electricity: fully electric vehicles, hybrids, plug-in hybrids and fuel cell cars, seeking to position themselves on every possible front

We have been saying it for some time: electric cars are the most immediate future of the automotive industry, and their take-off is expected from 2020 onwards. So it is no surprise that even the most reluctant brands have launched into developing electric, hybrid and even fuel cell cars. This last technology seems to receive little attention from brands, although Asian brands still seem to believe in it.
Hyundai and Honda, two brands that are betting on electric technology, either for fully electric vehicles or hybrids, but without forgetting fuel cell technology, powered by energy produced from hydrogen. The first plans to launch, by 2020, five hybrid models, as well as four plug-in hybrids and four fully electric vehicles. But all of these will be accompanied by a fuel cell vehicle.

For this brand, it is still unclear which technology will dominate from that year onwards, so they want to be ready to face whichever challenges arise from that moment. They do not want to let any opportunity pass and want to be ready to offer the type of vehicle customers demand at that time.
For Honda, the situation is much the same. Steve Center, the brand’s vice president of business development, has made a similar statement: “We have a bet on red, black, even and odd, and we are not leaning towards any of the available options“. So, just like Hyundai, they foresee a wide range of possibilities to satisfy all their customers.
Honda and Hyundai have been among the few that have bet on fuel cells and launched models with this technology, the Tucson Hybrid and the Honda Clarity, so they clearly see this as a good option for the near future. Which technology do you think will be available in a few years and will be the most popular?
