Hyundai presents its next proposal with a fuel cell, the Next Generation FCEV

Following the launch of the hydrogen fuel cell-powered Tucson, the evolution of this model arrives in the form of a new prototype

Logically, it was in Seoul that Hyundai chose to present what is the company’s next step in the fuel cell vehicle market. It is the Hyundai Next Generation FCEV, a continuation of the model seen at last year’s Geneva Motor Show, which aims to get closer to the production model set to arrive within a few months. It will replace the Tucson FCEV and is expected to far surpass its predecessor in performance.

In this case, the fuel cell will allow the car to travel roughly 580 km on a single tank of hydrogen. This surpasses its predecessor and should help those most reluctant about this type of fuel to set aside the myths that prevent them from becoming popular. The Korean manufacturer has not revealed many details about the car, presumably because it is still developing the model’s powertrain, and there may be some changes between this concept and the production model.

In theory, the Hyundai Next Generation FCEV will feature an electric motor delivering 120 kW, the equivalent of 160 CV, and a maximum torque of 400 Nm, sent to the front wheels. As this car follows the Kona, which was presented recently, this model will also benefit from the new design language the brand has adopted since then. It will therefore feature very slim headlights, framed by LED daytime running lights, with the fog lights positioned lower.

There is no established launch date, so we will have to wait a little to find out when this model will be ready. As we have said, it is very close to the production version, but it may still receive some modifications to make it more attractive to future buyers.
