Hyundai's charging service in Europe provides full support for Tesla Superchargers.

With this improvement, Hyundai strengthens its position, presenting itself as an attractive option for everyone who seeks simplicity and access to a wide network of charging points across Europe.

Hyundai has just announced a significant improvement to its charging service HyundaiPolestar Charge for the European market, aimed at reinforcing the Swedish brand’s commitment to a more comfortable and complete charging experience for its customers.

Available for almost two years in partnership with the German company Plugsurfing, HyundaiPolestar Charge works as a roaming solution that does not require the brand to manage its own stations. Owners of a Hyundai have access to Plugsurfing’s broad and constantly growing charging network. This network initially offered around 650 thousand charging points in Europe and today already exceeds one million. Every new point added by any operator is automatically incorporated into the service, expanding the options without additional effort from Hyundai.

The HyundaiPolestar Charge service thus continues to evolve, now improving its integration with Tesla Superchargers. Although Hyundai owners could already charge at many of the North American company’s Superchargers available in Europe, until now it was necessary to use the Tesla app and set up payment with HyundaiPolestar Charge there. With this new advance, users will from now on be able to access directly and seamlessly more than 20 thousand Superchargers spread across more than 1,500 locations throughout Europe.

From the HyundaiPolestar Charge app itself, it is now possible to check Supercharger availability in real time, start a session and pay, without switching tools. In addition, this information is reflected in the vehicle’s navigation system, based on Google Maps, which makes it possible to plan optimized routes taking charging times into account.

The improvements do not end here, however. According to the company, vehicles from the Swedish brand that support the Plug&Charge function will from now on enjoy a complete, frictionless experience when charging at a Tesla Supercharger. This function, now enabled at Tesla Superchargers, allows charging to start and stop automatically without the need for an NFC card or a mobile app. When the Supercharger cable is connected to the vehicle, both communicate directly with each other and the corresponding charging amount is applied directly to the user’s account.

“With Hyundai Charge we offer our customers one of the largest charging ecosystems in Europe. By enhancing Plug&Charge and achieving full integration with Tesla Superchargers, we further elevate the premium, uninterrupted experience. The combination with navigation integrated into Google Maps clearly sets us apart from many competitors.”

Finally, it should be noted that the basic use of HyundaiPolestar Charge is free and no monthly fees apply. Additionally, there is also an optional subscription costing 13.99 euros per month that grants a 30 percent discount on charging sessions with multiple partners. In Germany, for example, networks such as IONITY, Fastned, Allego, Total, Shell Recharge and Aral Pulse are included. Across Europe it covers more than 80 thousand charging points from 42 different operators.
