Icona Vulcano at the Shanghai Motor Show

The Italian coachbuilding company Cecomp has presented the Icona Vulcano, a hybrid brute with a V12 engine and almost 1,000 horsepower. Such a beast is being presented at the Shanghai Motor Show as further proof that electric motors are an excellent complement when it comes to adding power.
The Icona Vulcano was conceived by Samual Chuffart, who was once an active part of the design team at Nissan (hence the GT-R look). But perhaps the figure who has had the greatest involvement in the Icona Vulcano is Claudio Lombardi, former technical director at Ferrari in F1. We do not know the degree of collaboration these two figures have had, but they are undoubtedly magnets for attracting customers.

As for the Icona Vulcano, it is what we expected. On one hand, a V12 variant with 800 horsepower, which is increased to 962 horsepower with the addition of an electric motor. With this configuration, the sports car reaches a top speed of 349 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 in 3 seconds. If we opt for the “economical” V6 variant called H-Competizione, it will include a V6 engine with two electric motors of 162 horsepower, one for the front axle and another for the rear axle.
It is not yet known whether there are plans for commercialisation, but what is very likely is that the Icona Vulcano will not reach Europe under normal conditions, since the Icona division has been created by Cecomp exclusively for China. This does not mean that if someone puts on the table the roughly two million euros they would ask for it, a unit won’t make its way to Europe.
