James Bond: SPECTRE shows us how its supercars are put to the test

We know that when you drive on the streets, it doesn’t matter what car you have. Whether it’s a city car or a supercar, you have to watch your speed and drive as the traffic rules stipulate, at the risk of getting an expensive fine or something worse, in the form of an accident that wrecks the car you’re driving. But there are human beings who are above those rules and can make their cars do whatever they want, without risking fines or accidents.

They are film stunt drivers, who, while the camera is following them, can get all the performance they need out of the cars they drive. So imagine what they must feel on board the supercars from the latest James Bond film, which is titled SPECTRE and is being shot in various locations over these last few weeks.

And it’s no small matter, since we’re talking about two cars you don’t see driving through the streets of Rome every day. The first is driven by the villain of the film, the one who will endanger our favourite secret agent. It is the Jaguar C-X75, a hybrid car with a 1.6-litre engine, combined with two electric motors capable of generating a combined output of 850 CV.

For his part, agent 007, once again played by Daniel Craig, will take the wheel of a Aston Martin DB10, a car you won’t be able to see anywhere else for the time being, since only 10 units have been built, all intended for the filming of this movie. It is assumed that not all the DB10s used will have every specification, since the level of finish will surely depend on the scenes in which they are used.

Either way, the thrill of watching these two supercars go head to head through the streets of Rome is going to be a delight to see on the big screen. For now, we have to make do with watching them in this short documentary, which explains how this scene was prepared and shows some of the footage. Spectacular, right?
