KIA XCeed: the KIA Stonic and Sportage now have a new sibling
The KIA XCeed will make its public debut on 26 June, and will be joined by the KIA Ceed and the KIA Proceed.

KIA has released the first official image of its new vehicle. It is an urban crossover called the KIA XCeed. It is part of the Ceed family, which is constantly expanding. The new KIA XCeed is set to be unveiled at the end of this month, specifically on 26 June.
At its official presentation it will be joined by the KIA Ceed, the KIA Ceed Sportswagon and the KIA Proceed. The brand’s new urban crossover will also bridge the gap between the smaller KIA Stonic and the larger KIA Sportage in the brand’s SUV line-up.

KIA has opted for a coupé-style design for its new urban model, which may bring to mind what Mercedes-Benz is doing with its own Mercedes-Benz GLA. The end result is a car that is more desirable “than many taller and larger SUVs”, according to Emilio Herrera, Operations Director at Kia Europe.
Among the rivals to the new KIA XCeed is the new Ford Focus Active, as well as more traditional SUV models of its size. KIA says its new urban crossover offers “levels of interior space and luggage capacity comparable to Europe’s best-selling SUVs”.

The KIA XCeed will make its debut at the end of June
It is still unknown whether the Korean carmaker will offer the KIA XCeed with all-wheel drive, but it is probably not, reflecting the drivetrain options available in the current Ceed family, although some special driving modes may be added.
So far, the Korean manufacturer offers the regular versions of the KIA Ceed and KIA Proceed with turbocharged petrol engines producing up to 201 CV, as well as a single diesel engine. The brand is also working on a new plug-in hybrid version that will probably also be available for the KIA XCeed. The new KIA XCeed is set to be revealed in full on 26 June.

Although only one image has been presented, the rear has a coupé-like appearance. This new design is the work of the brand’s European Design Centre in Frankfurt, Germany, led by Gregory Guillaume, Vice President of Design at Kia Europe. “The combination of a high seating position with a low waistline gives the vehicle a sportier stance than a traditional SUV. Its elevated driving position offers a clearer view of the road than a conventional family compact.”
Emilio Herrera, Operations Director at Kia, has stated that “the sporty design and driving dynamics of the new Kia XCeed CUV make it more desirable than many other taller and larger SUVs. This model manages to deliver these qualities without compromising versatility, and with a smart interior design it achieves cabin space and cargo capacity of an SUV on a sportier, more compact chassis.”
