Lamborghini Essenza SCV12, the new limited-edition hypercar from Sant'Agata designed for the track
The “customer racing” program of Lamborghini welcomes the new Essenza SCV12, a limited edition of 40 units intended exclusively for the track

Every so often, supercar manufacturers surprise us with the creation of true gems that will only be seen in some collector’s crazy garage project but, at other times, these gems become “toys” that only a select few will be able to enjoy. A perfect example of the latter may be the new Lamborghini Essenza SCV12, an engineering masterpiece that can only be enjoyed on the asphalt of race circuits.
The new Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 is a hypercar designed for track use and inspired by iconic models from the brand such as the Miura Jota and the Diablo GTR. It will be produced as an exclusive limited edition of just 40 units for customers worldwide. The Essenza SCV12 was designed by the Lamborghini Centro Stile and developed directly by Lamborghini Squadra Corse, thus adopting engineering solutions brought straight from the world of competition.

Lamborghini Centro Stile was responsible for developing a three-module bodywork that allows quick changes at the pit stop, combining sleek lines that pay homage to the prototypes of the 1970s with features of today’s Lamborghini designs, such as the hexagonal front headlights, the roof air intake, the ventilation vents and the “Y”-shaped motif that runs across the bodywork. This bodywork will, incidentally, be offered in Verde Selvans, Grigio Lynx, Nero Aldebaran Gloss and Arancio California.
This bodywork also features elaborate development and engineering work by Lamborghini Squadra Corse, who have brought all their GT racing experience to the Essenza SCV12. The twin-intake front air inlet with a central outlet on the bonnet, inspired by that of the competition Huracán, separates the hot air flows coming from the radiator and channels cold air to the roof intake. Also notable are the front splitter, the side appendages and the vertical fins located on the door sills. The rear is dominated by an elaborate diffuser and a large two-profile adjustable rear wing. All of this allows the Essenza SCV12 to achieve an efficiency and aerodynamic downforce level above that of a GT3, producing 1,200 kg at 250 km/h.

Inside, the cockpit is dominated by carbon fibre and a dashboard with its instrumentation supported by an asymmetric “Y”-shaped structure. The driver sits in a seat signed by OMP with a carbon fibre shell that carries FIA homologation and, once in position, can feel like a Formula 1 driver thanks to the multifunction steering wheel with display, inspired by those fitted to the top-level racing single-seaters.
Mechanically, the Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 will be powered by a V12 engine of 6,500 cc capable of delivering more than 850 CV of power to the rear axle, linked to a six-speed X-trac sequential gearbox. Thanks to its characteristics and engine, the Essenza SCV12 achieves a power-to-weight ratio of 1.66 kg/CV. Another element brought directly from competition is its rear suspension push-rod mounted directly to the gearbox. Contact with the road is provided by specific Pirelli tyres for the Essenza SCV12, fitted on 19-inch front and 20-inch rear magnesium wheels. For braking, a system signed by Brembo Motorsport has been used.

Those who acquire an Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 will enjoy a programme that includes a custody service in a hangar located in Sant’Agata Bolognese and created for this model, where owners can monitor their vehicle via webcam 24 hours a day, as well as physical preparation programmes similar to those of Lamborghini’s official drivers. The tests, which will begin in 2021, will be carried out on FIA Grade 1-homologated circuits, with the support of the Squadra Corse technical team and with the help of drivers Emanuele Pirro, five-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and Marco Mapelli, official Lamborghini Squadra Corse driver.
