Land Rover Discovery Sport: more luxury and versatility with the best performance

Land Rover, the English car manufacturer belonging to the Tata Motors group, has decided to add updates to one of its most iconic models on the market, the Land Rover Discovery. This time, they have focused on giving it a more sporty approach, mainly emphasising the interior design of the cabin, and they have shown this by launching the Discovery Sport version of the flagship SUV.

The Discovery Sport is a vehicle that offers incredible features for family adventures. With capacity for up to seven seats in soft Windsor leather (except in plug-in hybrid electric models), this model becomes the favourite of the most dynamic and modern families. Its new interior shows refinement and spectacular finishes, exuding modern luxury so that customers can enjoy the latest infotainment technology.

The cabin of the Discovery Sport stands out for its luxurious quality and attention to detail in the materials used. The interior is bright, spacious and open, with stadium-style seats that guarantee space and visibility in every seat. To further enhance the sense of space, a panoramic glass roof is offered as an option.

Some further details about its interior that have been revealed include a new gear lever covered in dark anodised aluminium and an elegant three-spoke multifunction steering wheel. In the S and SE models, vegan materials are available for the seats. The DuoLeather interiors in the Discovery Sport S and Dynamic SE models offer up to three colour options. For those who prefer not to choose leather, an option of Alcantara combined with Luxtec fabric is offered, a soft material made from recycled polyester microfibre.

Its seats have been designed with every detail in mind; the new model offers the luxury of configuring your seat with up to 24 possible configurations, with the ability to slide the second row and recline in a 40:20:40 configuration. If we fold the seats down, we obtain a generous cargo space of up to 1,794 litres, which makes loading and unloading items easier via the electric tailgate.

In terms of technology, the Discovery Sport features innovative characteristics. Every model includes as standard a digital instrument cluster and paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel. The redesigned centre console features an elegant 11.4-inch floating touchscreen with curved glass. The Pivi Pro2 infotainment system offers shortcuts to the vehicle’s key controls and functions, allowing users to access 90% of the functions with just two taps from the home screen. It also integrates Amazon’s Alexa voice artificial intelligence and wireless Apple CarPlayTM.

Speaking of safety in relation to the Discovery, it includes advanced safety technologies such as the cabin air purification system or the PM2.5 filtration and CO2 control system, which combines nanoe™ X technology to fight pathogens and reduce unpleasant odours, bacteria and allergens.

Engine types for the Sport version

The Discovery Sport also stands out for its wide range of camera technology, which includes 3D Surround cameras and ClearSight Ground View™. These cameras provide images displayed on the 11.4-inch touchscreen, offering a clear view without obstacles of both the surroundings and the rear of the vehicle to make parking or tight situations in low-visibility places easier.

As for the engine range, the Discovery Sport offers efficient plug-in hybrid electric and mild hybrid electric models. The P300e battery has improved its real-world range, offering an electric range of up to 61 km (WLTP) and CO2 emissions of 33 g/km.

In addition, fast and simple charging of the electric-hybrid engine is possible, with the 14.9 kWh battery charging from 0 to 80% in just 30 minutes. The D200 and D165 Ingenium diesel models complete the range, offering greater efficiency and performance thanks to mild hybrid technology.
