The German tuner has taken on the new Defender, giving it a much sportier look and bringing it up to V8 figures

The Land Rover Defender is one of those off-roaders that have earned their place and that we can classify as iconic. A genuine 4×4 that has been with us since 1948, capable of tackling the toughest tracks.

It is true that the new Land Rover Defender is no longer just an off-roader of great capability, but also offers great comfort and luxury for travelling or for everyday use. That is why Manhart has decided to seize this opportunity and turn the new Land Rover Defender into a machine focused on on-road performance.

The Manhart Defender DP 500 is the German tuner’s proposal for all those looking for a distinctive look and performance that can challenge more than one sports car, thanks to its 512 CV, without giving up the comfort of its SUV side or the luxury we have come to expect from the British brand, now enhanced by Manhart.

The conversion is built on the long-wheelbase body version “110”, which has been fitted with several black vinyl graphics, more pronounced wheel arches that give it a much wider and more aggressive appearance, and huge forged wheels in 24 inches wrapped in 295/40 R24 tyres. Manhart also offers as an option wheels in 22 inches for those who don’t want such large wheels or intend to take their DP 500 off the asphalt.

The interior is another area to which Manhart has paid close attention, as we can see new Alcantara and leather upholstery with stitching different from the standard model. And this doesn’t stop there, as the tuner also offers the option of fitting power-adjustable ErgoMed seats by Recaro, heated and ventilated.

The heart of the DP 500 is a 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder that comes from the Defender P400 AWD and which, as standard, produces 400 CV and 550 Nm of torque. A really good figure, but one that Manhart has wanted to improve, raising it to 512 CV and 710 Nm, figures very close to the 5.0-litre V8 version of the Defender, which produces 525 CV and 650 Nm.

To delight any lucky person who gets to hear this machine roar, Manhart has equipped the DP 500 with a stainless steel exhaust system available with carbon fibre or ceramic-coated exhaust outlets.

To stop the 512 CV, the tuner also offers an upgraded braking system which, combined with the standard air suspension that allows its height to be lowered by 30 mm, makes seeing this vehicle parked or in motion a real marvel.
