Honda Prologue: data on the brand's first 100% electric SUV
The Japanese brand faces a tough challenge with electrification despite being the world’s largest manufacturer of combustion engines

Although it has tried its luck with models such as the electric saloon the Honda Clarity EV aimed at North America -which will soon leave the market- or the charismatic Honda E, the brand is in a certainly compromised position when it comes to becoming a brand with a wide range of electric vehicles.
For this reason, Honda wants to transform itself into an environmentally friendly brand, with the goal, by 2035, for 80% of its global sales to be electrified vehicles and, by 2040, to become a 100% electric brand. To this end, Honda has announced the name of its first electric SUV, which will be called the Honda Prologue.

An SUV developed in collaboration with General Motors
This SUV will be aimed at the North American market and its launch date is scheduled for summer 2024, in collaboration with General Motors, with which it will develop the technology for this SUV and which will manufacture the model at its plants in Mexico or the United States.
The production model will be based on the Honda SUV e:concept that we brought you last year at the Beijing Auto Show, and it will be built on General Motors’ BEV3 platform but with a design in the purest Honda style.
Honda wants the Honda Prologue to be the first step in developing a promising path in the launch of electric vehicles on a proprietary platform, which is currently under development.

One of the major new features of the Honda Prologue will be the so-called Super Cruise system, one of the most advanced autonomous driving systems on the market, owned by Cruise, of which Honda is one of the shareholders.
Also Acura, Honda’s luxury division, plans to launch an electric SUV derived from this Honda Prologue, though larger in size, making it the rising sun brand’s greatest weapon to lead the way to carbon neutrality by 2040.
