Mansory stamps its signature on the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63

If the sporty character of a Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 seems insufficient to you, wait to see what Mansory has done by squeezing every last drop out of its V8

The Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 is one of those many SUVs that many people ask us whether they are really necessary, whether it’s really worth paying its price if you won’t make full use of its characteristics the way another type of car would. Surely there will be many who do believe so, as tastes differ, and among them is the tuner Mansory, which pushes those characteristics even further in case you don’t find them sufficient.

Starting with the exterior, what draws the most attention is the aerodynamic and styling kit installed by Mansory, which in my opinion leaves the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 looking overly “loaded” and eliminates the good work done at AMG. As you can see, at the front additional aerodynamic appendages have been added, as well as a spoiler on the lower part of the bumper. On the sides the running boards have been removed and new skirts installed, while at the rear we find a new diffuser, side air outlets and a carbon fibre rear wing.

In the dynamics upgrades section, the standard wheels have been replaced with new, enormous multi-spoke rims of no less than 23 inches, developed specifically for high-performance SUVs. In addition, the air suspension allows the car’s height to be lowered by up to 30 MM, which translates into a considerable improvement in cornering.

Changes have also been made to the interior and, just as with the exterior kit, I get the impression the changes are for the worse compared to the standard model. For the footwell area, the door panels, the armrest, the dashboard and the seats, a diamond-pattern design has been used, while the steering wheel has been covered in fine leather and carbon fibre. To finish, aluminium pedals with the Mansory logo.

But now comes the good part, the reason I think this preparation is worth it: its engine. As standard we find a 5,500 cc TwinTurbo V8 that delivers 585 CV and 760 Nm of torque. Well, Mansory has tuned the engine so that it now delivers a respectable 840 CV and an impressive torque of 1,150 Nm. Apart from the engine modifications, a sport air filter and a new sport exhaust system have also been fitted.
