Maserati wants to continue its strategy of electrifying its models without leaving Italy

The luxury brand of Stellantis wants to keep producing quality cars designed and manufactured in Italy, also under the Folgore badge, its electric range.

Maserati has started its road back to the front line, with a strategy centred on electrification in the medium and long term. For the time being, the brand is taking small steps and moving forward gradually, but with a clear goal. It wants to be a viable option for anyone seeking a functional and efficient electric vehicle, with a design and production that are entirely Italian.

And it wants to keep designing, producing and exporting from Italy. Specifically, 85% of the brand’s production is destined for export markets, so it carries the Italian flag to every market in the world from its headquarters in Modena. The brand belongs to the Stellantis Group and is the only brand within the group offering luxury vehicles, something it intends to strengthen.

The name Folgore has been reserved for high-end electric cars, and this family already has two models available, the GranTurismo Folgore and the Grecale Folgore. Both have already been presented in European markets, paving the way for the rest of the range, which will not be long in arriving.

On that path towards electrification, Maserati intends to get closer to Formula E, the high-level competition with electric single-seaters. With everything it learns in this competition, it will devote itself to improving its electric powertrains to create future, more efficient models.

The next electric model that the premium brand of Stellantis will launch will be the GranCabrio Folgore, which has already been launched in its combustion-engine version. In 2025 the MC20 Folgore will arrive, and a major E-UV BEV is being prepared for 2027, along with the next generation of the Quattroporte BEV, due in 2028.

At the Modena headquarters, the Maserati MC20 and the MC20 Cielo are currently being manufactured, and the Folgore units of this model will also be produced at these facilities. In addition, the Atelier of the Fuoriserie Personalisation Programme has been established in the same location, dedicated to designing and manufacturing customised Maserati models.

The design and development of the new models takes place at the Viale Ciro Menotti plant, where a team of 130 engineers and other professionals, experts in electric mobility, works to offer products best suited to the tastes of the brand’s customers.
