Mercedes will present a total of 100 models from its entire range at the Frankfurt Motor Show
Mercedes will display more than 100 vehicles from its various ranges and production series at its Frankfurt stand, from electric cars to luxury sports cars.

The German brand will make its presence at “its show” a grand affair. And no wonder, because besides being able to showcase its full arsenal to its home audience, that arsenal is modern, attractive and successful. Among the 100 models on display are units of the new S-Class, among which will be its until now unseen Coupé and Cabrio variants, and the X-Class, the new pick-up whose sales Mercedes will begin in late 2018.
The highly anticipated Mercedes-AMG Project One, a hypercar prototype with which the star brand wants to pay tribute to AMG’s 50th anniversary with a road-going car whose mechanics are literally inspired by those used in the brand’s Formula 1 single-seaters, meaning a hybrid powertrain producing almost 1,000 CV, with which a road version would directly rival other supercars such as the Bugatti Chiron or the Aston Martin Valkyrie.

The new EQ, a fully electric model, will also be present at its Frankfurt stand, equipped with a new battery of around 60 kilowatt-hours and an electric motor of 200 CV. The brand hopes to sell this car on the market from around 40,000 euros. The EQ is considered the first representative of a prospective sub-brand with which the Star manufacturer would compete directly with the i division of BMW and with Tesla, given the good results both brands are achieving in the emerging electric vehicle market.
At last year’s Paris Motor Show, Mercedes Benz already unveiled the EQ concept, a vehicle halfway between an SUV and a luxury saloon, of which we will now see its first production-ready version, very close to what will be the final model entering series production. The video shows images of the EQ Concept prototype presented in Paris a year ago.

And staying focused on sustainability-related projects, Mercedes Benz has also announced the presence in Frankfurt of a new SUV, the GLC F Cell, which, powered by hydrogen as fuel, will offer a range of up to 500 kilometres with refuelling times similar to those of a conventional petrol or diesel engine.
We will likely also see the recent Mercedes Maybach 6 Cabriolet that the brand unveiled in California during the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, a prototype that complements the grand luxury range launched the previous year with the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6, which heralded the return of the Maybach name.

Another of the Star brand’s novelties is the major update carried out on the V-Class, which introduces attractive aesthetic improvements both to its exterior finish and interior, along with new and interesting technological equipment that increasingly brings the model in line with the Star brand’s passenger car range. The new special series and equipment packages for the V-Class will also be present, such as the Marco Polo variants or the new Night Package offered in its 2018 range.
Another brand from the Daimler group, Smart will also play an important role at this event. The microcar brand will show a new electric vehicle prototype developed precisely by EQ. The new Smart prototype for Frankfurt is defined by the brand as “a fully autonomous driving study”, in which the manufacturer will showcase the four pillars underpinning its current CASE strategy (Connected, Autonomous, Shared and Electric), under which Mercedes Benz is developing its entire strategy for shared and electric autonomous vehicles with which it plans to face the future with smart in the very short and medium term.

These are the main novelties the Star brand has announced for this edition of the Frankfurt Motor Show, but we cannot bring ourselves to believe the German manufacturer has “spent” all its surprises for this important event in its home market. All its rivals are presenting a real battery of important novelties in Frankfurt and, surely, the Star manufacturer will present some other novelty or important innovation not yet announced to attract the public to its impressive stand. Surely among the 100 cars on display we will find something more.
