MOBILIZE EZ-FLEX, the mobility solution from Renault Group that has been put to the test

The Renault MOBILIZE EZ-FLEX vehicle is undergoing several trials in urban areas to collect data and information on its use in real-world environments.

Last-mile delivery is very important, so many brands are working to create sustainable vehicles for this service. Renault is one of them and since 2019 has been taking part in a study together with companies such as La Poste, Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole, the city of Montpellier and the company Services Ecusson Vert (SEV). This project is gathering all the information needed to offer this service with every guarantee.

The trial has been carried out with the MOBILIZE EZ-FLEX, a compact electric vehicle designed for urban mobility. It is designed to make it easier for the delivery driver to reach the city centre. It has a turning radius of 4.5 metres, so it can move very nimbly through the streets of the centre of any city or town.

A vehicle designed for deliveries

The vehicle is designed to get the most out of goods delivery in the last kilometre. It is therefore equipped with sensors to collect geolocation, mileage, range, door opening, speed and stop data. In this way, each route can be optimised and times improved, while moving around with a zero-emission electric vehicle.

The vehicle’s design has also been created so that the delivery driver can move around freely. Access to the cab is wide and comfortable to use. The rear, intended for cargo, has also benefited from a comfortable design for access. The access doors are also easy to reach.

The MOBILIZE EZ-FLEX has been used in several configurations, with different types of rear bodies, to cover different types of urban delivery services.

End of the trial period

The trial period will end in December this year and will be the moment to evaluate all the data collected. So far, users have rated the use of this vehicle in urban environments positively. Its manoeuvrability in the city allows it to move easily through the streets and reach any point.

The vehicles used in this trial have changed in order to test the different configurations. The ground clearance, seat adjustments, means of access to the cargo area and the cab, and other changes have made it possible to observe how each one performs and to prepare the final version.

Other studies are being carried out to find out how to improve the service. So far, the Renault project is preparing other vehicles that can offer this service, which will be adjusted over time.
