Morgan Plus Four CX-T, the limited edition for tackling difficult off-road tracks
Morgan presents the Plus Four CX-T, an off-road version of the Plus Four that will be produced in a limited edition of just eight units for the whole world

When we talk about Morgan, two of its most representative models come to mind quickly, the Aero 8 or the spectacular 3 Wheeler, but all of them share an old-fashioned design disguised by current technology that has managed to endure over the years with practically no changes. Now, taking another of its models as a reference, Morgan surprises us once again with a spectacular off-roader, yes, what you are reading.
Morgan Plus Four CX-T, that is what this off-road version will be called, based on the Plus Four, which the brand plans to produce under a strict limited edition of just eight units, all of which are scheduled to be built before the end of this year. Although the units are few, the timeframe is already tight, so Morgan is already accepting orders for the Plus Four CX-T at a price of £170,000 plus taxes, which translates to roughly 200,000 euros.

But what makes the Morgan Plus Four CX-T a special vehicle? A complete conversion has been carried out to allow it to be used as an off-road vehicle, starting with the removal of the rear panel to create a storage space which includes two waterproof Pelican cases, two 11-litre fuel tanks and two spare wheels. In addition, the external roll cage to which the front auxiliary lights are also anchored can be fitted together with the storage space to carry, for example, bicycles or surfboards, turning it into a further companion for our leisure time.

Naturally, the Plus Four CX-T as such is not a vehicle designed for this use, so, in collaboration with Rally Raid UK, a series of mechanical modifications have been made. To begin with, the suspension assembly has been revised and now raises its height by 230 mm, thanks to new springs which have greater travel due to this increase in height, and to wheel arches that have been modified so the suspension can compress to the maximum; not forgetting the lower suspension arms, which now feature reinforced bushings to increase their durability.

The underside features protective plates to shield the engine, an engine that, incidentally, is still a 2,000 cc turbo unit from the factory BMW and delivers a power output of 255 CV. Also from the factory BMW is the electronic differential fitted to the Morgan Plus Four CX-T, which offers the Road mode (allowing normal use), All Terrain (which applies a 45% locking effect to the rear axle) and All Terrain – Extreme (in which the differential is fully locked to tackle the most difficult terrain).

Inside the Morgan Plus Four CX-T there are also modifications that will delight 4×4 enthusiasts, as a RAM base has been installed on the passenger-side dashboard to allow the fitting of smartphones or cameras, a light, a notepad holder. In addition, in the passenger footwell there is also a removable holder for maps or documents and an insulated thermal bag.
