Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25: only 30 units in limited edition

As a tribute to Manthey’s 25 years, Porsche is going to build a limited edition of 30 units of the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25, the ultimate weapon for track days.

Manthey has every reason to be proud. The company Manthey Racing GmbH, based in Meuspath, very close to Nürburgring, was founded in 1996. Since then it has worked closely with Porsche. Among other things, it is responsible for fielding the Porsche 911 RSR in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). In 2013, Porsche AG acquired 51% of the company’s shares, which currently employs around 200 people.

Now, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Manthey’s founding, Porsche is announcing a very special edition of the 911 GT2 RS. This is the Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25, of which only 30 units will be built, with a starting price of 525,000 euros before taxes. Deliveries will begin in 2022.

3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six engine with 700 CV

The starting point for this exclusive 911 is the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport, equipped with the 3.8-litre boxer engine with twin-turbocharged forced induction, which sends its 700 CV to the rear wheels through a PDK dual-clutch gearbox.

The 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 differs mainly through a series of components taken from Porsche competition cars, especially in terms of technology and aerodynamics. And the source of inspiration could be none other than Manthey’s 911 GT3 R, known among racing fans, especially at the Nürburgring, and in the German brand as “Grello” (green + yellow) due to its striking green and yellow livery.

The elements Manthey has integrated into the bodywork of this 911 GT3 RS Clubsport 25, backed by its competition experience, are combined with the touch of Grant Larson, of Porsche Style, responsible for the powerful look of the 911 RSR, 911 GT3 R or the 935, among others.

Designed to break lap records on track

Based on the Porsche 911 of the 991 series, one of the characteristic technical features of the GT 2 RS Clubsport 25 is the relocation of the radiator, which is placed centrally to optimise the cooling airflow and thus keep the engine within a stable temperature range. This requires a complete redesign of the front end, with the aim of increasing the aerodynamic downforce on the front axle.

As on the 911 GT3 R, two large intakes, independent of the central engine cooling intake, channel air towards the rear. On the bonnet, above the brand emblem, a NACA duct supplies fresh air to the cabin.

The suspensions of the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 borrow many elements from the Porsche 935, from which it also “borrows” the electronic steering control system and the spectacular 18-inch wheels with centre-lock nuts.

At the rear, a huge spoiler sits on “swan neck” supports. Manthey adds ventilation outlets below the rear window to improve airflow in the engine bay, and also modifies the diffuser, which integrates the new exhaust system. As for the headlights, another hallmark of the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport, they have also been developed specifically for this model. They integrate the indicators and, with their four stripes, recall those of the Porsche 911 RSR that won at Le Mans.

The interior is that of the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport, including the roll cage in accordance with FIA regulations.
