MTM prepares the Audi S6 with 555CV

The German tuner MTM has carried out a series of modifications on the Audi S6 saloon that slightly change the vehicle’s exterior design while increasing the power of the package to 555CV.

Over the last few years, the German tuner MTM has been to Audi what Brabus is to Mercedes-Benz or Alpina is to BMW. A firm that has never missed a model from the four-ring range, offering its customers an extra touch of sportiness and exclusivity. On this occasion, it has launched a series of aesthetic and mechanical modifications to the Audi S6 saloon.

Audi does not yet have a saloon variant of the RS6, so the MTM guys have decided to create their own version using the 420CV S6 as a base. To do this, they have carried out a reprogramming of the engine control unit, an increase in turbo boost pressure and, finally, a change to the exhaust line.

With these modifications, MTM’s Audi S6 is capable of delivering 555CV of power to all four wheels, 5 less than the RS6, and 700 Nm, figures that allow it to reach 100 km/h from standstill in 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 290 km/h, compared with the 250 km/h of the dealer version.

Aesthetically, the changes to this saloon are minimal. Noteworthy are MTM Bimoto nine-spoke lightweight alloy wheels, firmer suspension that lowers the vehicle’s ground clearance, and a brake kit signed by Brembo.

The power increase costs 3,791€, to which we must add 1,737€ if we opt for the suspension kit.

The performance is impressive, but more so are those of the Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG S-Model or the Porsche Panamera Turbo S. With the latter, the Audi shares many similarities. In my view, the main problem remains weight. There is no point in increasing power by more than 130CV if you have a car that nearly tips the scales at two tonnes. The priority would be to solve this last issue and only later deal with the engine, the easy part of any preparation.
