New Mercedes Class A Saloon: the German saloon is now available from 32,725 euros

The new Mercedes Class A Saloon is now a reality in our country, presented as a new variant with three engine options and a base price of 32,750€

We have been part of the great buzz that the compact segment generated with its arrival, something that has allowed the various brands working in this segment to exploit the bodywork and offer different variants. The same has happened with the Mercedes Class A, a model that has undergone a significant evolution throughout its commercial life, to the point of offering a new saloon version. After learning all its details and its excellent aerodynamic coefficient, the star brand has taken the step we were all waiting for: starting production of the new Class A Saloon also for Spain.

This new move by Mercedes is set not only to revolutionise the compact segment, but also to offer a new bodywork designed to meet needs that the standard Class A cannot cover in certain cases. In this way, the German brand has ensured that everything good about its compact is kept in this new model, resulting in a Class A Saloon that is just as technological but with greater interior space and boot capacity.

This can be seen in the dimensions declared for the new Class A Saloon, a model designed to accommodate its occupants with greater comfort. On the one hand, we find a headroom in the rear seats of 94.4 cm, a figure complemented by the 420-litre boot capacity -410 litres in the diesel versions- and a loading aperture declaring a width of 95 cm and a diagonal dimension between the lock and the bottom edge of the rear window of 46.2 cm.

Capacity and space, along with part of the styling, are some of the elements that change from the Class A to the Class A Saloon, but we still see a synergy between both models when it comes to engines. In this way, this new offshoot of the star brand comes with three engines, two petrol and one diesel, which could also accommodate a future 35 AMG variant.

The most modest engine in the new Mercedes Class A Saloon is the 180d, a 1.5-litre diesel engine capable of producing 116 CV of power and 260 Nm of torque. With this engine, the German saloon has a starting price of 34,050 euros, a figure that drops with its petrol sibling, the Class A Saloon 200. This variant houses a 1.3-litre engine declaring 163 CV and 250 Nm of torque, performance that can be ours for 32,725 euros, an amount that rises to 34,982 if you opt for the 7G automatic gearbox.

Last but not least, we find the sportiest variant – to date – of the Class A Saloon under the name 220 4Matic. This version features a 2.0-litre petrol engine with the capacity to deliver 190 CV and 300 Nm of torque, and to opt for this choice, you will have to pay 39,450 euros.
