New racing accessories for the BMW M2 Competition
The BMW M2 Competition receives an exclusive M Performance accessory pack to deliver relentless sportiness and performance worthy of a racing machine.
The BMW M2 is one of the longest-running sports models from the German manufacturer. Not long ago we told you about the most radical version, M2 CS, whose output was 39 CV higher than that of this BMW M2 Competition. There has also been talk that next year, 2021, could see the launch of an electric M model.
While the sports developer BMW is one of the most radical and respected in the automotive world, it is slightly behind when it comes to electrification. Many high-performance car brands are already launching electrified versions, and it would not be far-fetched to think of a possible BMW M electric within one or two years.
What does the M Performance package include?
This car is designed to fly. And with its new equipment option, even more so. It offers lighter 19-inch forged wheels and larger brakes. The coil spring suspension can be lowered by up to 20 mm, and the damping is also adjustable. The brakes are drilled and ventilated, guaranteeing resistance to the typical overheating caused on the track at very high speeds.

It also features carbon fibre elements to reduce weight. These parts are used both on the exterior, bonnet or rear, and on the interior, steering wheel, dashboard and upholstery. The M Performance Drive Analyzer package records data during track driving and lets you check which parameters or situations have room for improvement.
Mechanics and price
This BMW M2 Competition does not change its output with the M Performance trim levels. It is a purely aesthetic and aerodynamic enhancement pack. The engine under its bonnet is a 3.0-litre twin-turbo 6-cylinder inline capable of producing 410 CV and 550 Nm of maximum torque over a range of almost 3,000 rpm.

This engine drives, as it could not be otherwise, the rear wheels, aided by the six-speed manual gearbox or an optional DCT automatic. The automatic gearbox is better for achieving the minimum time to reach 100 km/h: 4.2 seconds versus 4.4 for the manual transmission. The top speed is limited as usual to 250 km/h, but it can reach 280 km/h with the M Driver pack.
The price of this added track package for the BMW M2 Competition is not yet known. But in Spain, this sports car starts at just over €75,000, while its more muscular sibling, the CS, exceeds €100,000. Perhaps for this reason, the BMW M2 Competition M Performance could range around €80,000 or more.
