Nightmare after Christmas: this Porsche 911 GT2 RS has been cruelly abandoned

This Porsche 911 GT2 RS arrives like a bucket of cold water at Christmas, and its state of abandonment and the damage it has suffered are very painful.

Yesterday was Christmas Eve, today is Christmas Day, and I’m sure you’re enjoying the presents and your families, but I’m afraid we’re going to spoil the celebration with this painful news. Despite the date, we feel obliged to share the tragic end suffered by this Porsche 911 GT2 RS, one of the supercars of the moment. Last week it was the turn of two Shelby GT500s fresh out of the oven, and today we’ve come across these images of a crashed 911 abandoned to its fate in a warehouse.

You know that a picture is worth a thousand words, but in this case it is so painfully literal. This discovery took place in Chile, where an indiscreet photographer captured a Porsche 911 GT2 RS that, after suffering a serious accident, has been left forgotten to gather dust, hurting the sensibilities of any car lover.

That’s right, dear readers, we are talking about the very car that once held the title of fastest supercar around the Nürburgring and that even today is still crowned as the most powerful and fastest 911 in history. But this has not been enough reason for its mysterious owner to give a second chance to the already iconic German supercar.

For now the causes of the accident are unknown, but the amount of dust already accumulated on this 911 GT2 RS suggests it happened a long time ago. Furthermore, the damage it shows also reveals that it was no minor incident, since both axles have suffered damage on their right side, with the front being the area that has suffered the most.

Suspension, wheel and brakes have been torn off by the impact, which has also caused havoc at the rear on the same side. However, it seems the heart of the GT2 RS has not suffered serious damage, and this story would be even more painful if that twin-turbocharged six-cylinder boxer capable of producing 700 CV and 750 Nm of torque had also been a victim of the accident.

Production of the 911 (991) has now come to an end, so these even more special variants deserve even more careful treatment. Unfortunately, everything points to this GT2 RS having to be written off from all the 911 (991) units built since 2011, as it seems it will never again set foot on the asphalt under its own power.
