The Nissan Juke-R 2.0 will finally share the asphalt with the rest of the “mortals”. Nissan has approved its series production and, according to the Italian digital magazine Omniauto, which learned from engineers at NISMO, it has ordered up to 17 units. The exact quantity offered to the public will depend on demand.

This updated version of the most powerful Juke will therefore be even scarcer than the first one, of which just over twenty examples were built. The price of the newer model remains secret. The earlier one required a payment of more than half a million euros, five times more than the 2012 GT-R whose six-cylinder engine and 549 CV it borrowed.

The development of the project thus runs parallel to that of the first Juke-R. That version was also conceived as an engineering exercise devoid of any commercial purpose. The positive reception and the influence on the brand’s image ended up persuading Nissan to build it, although on a limited basis.

Like its predecessor, the Juke-R 2.0 is the work of the British competition car builder RML, which has designed it under the supervision of Nissan. The GT-R continues as a source of parts and technical resources, except that this time the starting point is its most radical variant, the GT-R NISMO. The small crossover is likewise powered by the 3.8 six-cylinder engine with two turbochargers that produces 600 CV and uses the same set of brakes.

Carbon fibre features in most of the components of its bodywork and interior. As with the first Juke-R, it undergoes several changes that bring it closer to a sports car. Nissan has not disclosed its performance figures, but it is expected to be similar to those of the GT-R -accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds-, with the exception of top speed. The Juke-R also differs in what it registers on the scale: it weighs 1,800 kg, 60 more than the GT-R NISMO.
