Norway is already close to 100 percent of electric vehicle registrations relative to the total
In Norway, anyone who decides to buy a vehicle that is not electric is already considered an odd one out. A situation that continues to draw the attention of drivers in the rest of the continent.
In November 2025, Norway once again demonstrated why it is the world’s leading country in electric mobility, with the registration of 19,427 fully electric vehicles. A record figure far above what was recorded in previous years in that same month. To put this into perspective, the total number of registrations reached 19,899 vehicles. In other words, just 472 registrations corresponded to models with combustion engines -including hybrids-.
The market share of electric vehicles in this Scandinavian country thus rose to 97.6 percent. Very close to the annual average. Meanwhile, vehicles with combustion engines and plug-in hybrids now represent a practically marginal percentage.

In any case, this percentage is not the most notable figure; rather, it is the fact that electric registrations exceeded 19 thousand units. To put it in context, in October only 10,852 vehicles with this propulsion system were registered, while in November of the previous year this figure reached 10,940 vehicles.
Better to renew your car now than leave it for next year
The Norwegian Public Roads Administration’s Road Traffic Information Council (OFV) explains this strong increase in electric model registrations by several factors. The first is the imminent entry into force of tax changes in 2026, which includes the possible introduction of VAT on electric models. Likewise, it also points to aggressive year-end discount campaigns, a greater supply of affordable models and an increasingly strong economy.
“Uncertainty about the minimum deduction and the possible VAT from 2026 is accelerating many purchases. People prefer to secure a car under current conditions before the rules change”

The main beneficiary of this situation has been Tesla, which achieved a market share of 31.2 percent by registering 6,215 vehicles. With 28,606 units accumulated over the whole of 2025, the American brand has already surpassed its own annual record from 2023 (26,641). If similar data holds in December, it could close the year with more than 30 thousand vehicles registered in this country.
Other manufacturers with good sales figures in Norway
Also worth highlighting are the good figures recorded by other brands such as Volvo, with 1,867 registrations, or BMW with 1,104. All of them experienced notable growth compared with last year. On the other hand, Chinese brands did not reach the top positions during November in Norway, but they have achieved some growth in sales volume throughout 2025 compared with previous years, especially in the mid-size SUV segment.

By model, the Tesla Model Y remains the undisputed king, followed by its sibling the Model 3. Behind them we find several models with very similar registration figures, as is the case with the Volvo EX40 with 916 units or the EX30 with 774.
