Opel Rocks e-xtreme: the radical off-road version of the small urban car

Created by a German design student, the Rocks e-xtreme is presented as a crazy off-road creation based on Opel's 100% electric urban car

On the occasion of the Rocks-e Design Hack, an event organized by the blitz brand itself in which a large number of young designers from around the world met to show their creations through their social networks, the new Opel Rocks e-xtreme, a crazy and brilliant creation about the little German urbanite.

Created by Lukas Wenzhöfer, a student at the University of Design in Pforzheim/Baden-Württemberg, the Rocks e-xtreme presents itself as a fun electric off-roader of which a single full-size unit will be created as the materialization of this competition-winning project.

The jury members in charge of determining the deserved winner of this competition had to face the most curious creations, such as that of Théo Philippot, which was a Rocks-e wearing skates. to be able to drive on snowy terrain, or that of Kazuki Sakurai (second place in the competition), designed for racing on closed urban circuits.

With a system of double wishbone suspension With a raised roof, an exterior and interior roll cage, a prominent rear spoiler and wheels fitted with all-terrain tyres, the new Rocks-e has been created to allow young people to move around and enjoy a limitless driving experience, improving their off-road capabilities to be able to reach any destination.

The creation is not just for show, as the aforementioned suspension system features adaptive shock absorbers for each wheel, which allow it to improve its stability based on the needs of the terrain and “show that electric mobility is more than just a common-sense solution,” as Wenzhöfer, its creator, stated.

In addition to having obtained first place in the Rocks-e design competition, the small 100% electric off-road vehicle has also been chosen as “Best Design Innovation of 2022” in the “Mini Cars” category by the readers of the German magazine Auto Motor und Sport.
