Panamera Sport Turismo, the latest craze from Porsche

Hours before its official presentation, images of one of Porsche’s biggest novelties in Paris have leaked: the Panamera Sport Turismo, an estate that previews the features of the second generation of this model.

Over the past few months rumours have circulated about a possible Panamera Shooting Brake, an estate version of Porsche’s saloon. It is no longer just a rumour: a freshly leaked concept will be presented tomorrow at the Paris Motor Show as one of the German brand’s biggest novelties.

It is called the Panamera Sport Turismo and is meant to be a direct rival to the Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake, while at the same time previewing the future of the model. Many of the styling elements of this unusual estate are based on the new Boxster, 911 and 918 Spyder.

The photographs we have at this moment show a plug-in hybrid variant, something the brand had already anticipated some time ago. For now we have no information about how it works, but it will almost certainly feature a supercharged V6 engine driving the rear wheels, while an electric motor would deliver all its power to the front axle.

The front section bears great similarity to the original Panamera, while at the rear the tailgate is considerably larger in an attempt to give the impression of an estate. The interior is completely different from what we were used to, with the central console featuring a large touchscreen and the instrument cluster now being a huge LED display.

Tomorrow you will have all the official information as well as the images our special correspondents will take at the Paris Motor Show.
