Peugeot 208 GTI, official information and images

Since the Geneva Motor Show unveiled the concept of the 208 GTI last March, we had been waiting for its definitive version. Today Peugeot has revealed all the details and photographs of what will undoubtedly be a major rival to watch, thanks to its sole 200 CV engine, which will leave no one indifferent.
With the Peugeot 208 GTI, the French brand aims to offer the market a model that combines the sportiness of its exterior styling with the comfort needed for everyday use. This version of the 208 will only be sold with a three-door body from next year onwards.
Starting with its exterior, the 208 GTI stands out for its track widths increased by 10 mm at the front and 20 mm at the rear. We also find the now-familiar daytime running lights, which, like the indicators, are LED, while the halogen headlights use flat-guide technology. Furthermore, it features a grille dominated by chrome details and a more aggressive look.

Other elements that catch the eye are the brake calipers and the name Peugeot on the tailgate or the grille, which will be red regardless of the body colour. Finally, there is the exhaust outlet, which is dual and chrome-finished with a trapezoidal shape.
Upon entering the cabin, we continue to see the combination with the colour red present in many elements such as the seatbelts, seats, steering wheel and even the ambient lighting. The instrument cluster is dominated by a screen displaying all the information about the car. Overall, you will find the details characteristic of any sporty model or version, such as aluminium pedals or gear knob, and numerous chrome details.
Finally, we must talk about the powerful 1.6 THP petrol engine that produces 200 CV, paired with a six-speed gearbox with shorter ratios. The Peugeot 208 GTI boasts a maximum torque of 275 Nm, allowing it to reach 100 km/h from a standstill in just under 7 seconds, the same time it needs to go from 80 km/h to 120 km/h in fifth gear.

All this power is transmitted to the asphalt through 205/45 tyres mounted on 17-inch Carbone alloy wheels, which house ventilated discs of 302 mm at the front and 249 mm at the rear, cooled by air intakes.
To celebrate the arrival of such an eagerly awaited model as the Peugeot 208 GTI, the French brand has decided to launch a limited edition of just 50 units, with distinctive styling that includes exclusive 17-inch alloy wheels, while the interior is fitted with a navigation system, the Hifi pack and a numbered plaque.
