Polestar Polestar 3 Electric Cars SUV
Production of the Polestar 3 starts at the Chengdu plant in China
The Polestar 3 is already produced in China for the local and European markets. Soon, production of this electric SUV will also begin in the United States to meet the demand from the North American market.
It has been a long wait, but the Premium electric SUV from the Swedish manufacturer is finally about to hit the streets and roads of some markets yet to be determined. As the manufacturer has just announced, the first units of the Polestar 3 have already started rolling off the assembly line at the Chengdu plant in China, and initial tests have also begun to start production at the American Volvo plant in Ridgeville (South Carolina). The Polestar 3 will thus be the first model from the brand to be produced simultaneously on two different continents.
For now, however, Polestar has not given details about the exact configuration of the first units produced of its electric SUV, nor has it revealed which market they will be destined for. Although it is most likely to be China or Europe.

Following the announcement of this important news for the company, Thomas Ingenlath, the current CEO of Polestar, did not hesitate to express his delight, stating that the launch of the Polestar 3 marks a before and after for the company, which in just a few months has gone from producing a single electric model to producing three.
The Swedish manufacturer has been selling the Polestar 2 for several years now, and recently, in November 2023, it also began producing its new electric crossover, the Polestar 4, for the Chinese market. The Polestar 3 thus becomes the third fully electric model available in the manufacturer’s lineup.
Better late than never
The announcement of the start of production of the Polestar 3 came many months after its official presentation. The Swedish manufacturer held an event to unveil its new electric SUV to the world in October 2022, with the intention at that time of starting production in early 2023. However, some problems related to the vehicle’s software, which have also affected the Volvo EX90, have caused the company’s main plans to be significantly delayed.

The Polestar 3 features two electric motors that provide all-wheel drive and are capable of delivering 360 kW with 840 Nm of torque. These latter figures will increase to 380 kW of combined power with 910 Nm of torque if equipped with the Performance pack. The battery pack, on the other hand, has a net capacity of 111 kWh, and for charging the Polestar 3 can accept up to 11 kW of AC power. Meanwhile, at a fast DC charging point, peak power rises to 250 kW. As will be the case with the Volvo EX90, the new electric SUV from the Swedish manufacturer will also support bidirectional charging.

Price and availability
In Spain, the Polestar 3 is available from 92,900 euros, and the manufacturer currently estimates that orders placed in our market right now can be delivered around October or November of this year.
