Renault Latitude: engine range and equipment

The premium saloon from Renault is called Latitude, a model that replaces the Vel Satis, which was not well received in the market during its sales run. At this year’s Paris Motor Show we were already able to see up close the French brand’s bid for the premium segment with the Samsung SM5, which provides the base for the new Latitude.
The design is more traditional in style, and Renault once again opts for a saloon body for the premium segment, while inside there are some differences compared with the Laguna, but most of the components such as the climate control, navigation system, multimedia and so on are those already seen in other Renault models. But let’s move on to the engine range…
The Latitude will initially be available with three diesel engines and one petrol. In the diesel range we find the 2.0 dCI in 150 and 175 CV and the powerful 3.0 V6 dCI with 240 CV, while the only petrol engine initially available will be the 2.0 with 140 CV. These engines will be paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, except for the V6 dCi, which will get an automatic, and optionally the 175 CV dCi.

The diesel engines stand out for their low consumption, since the 150 CV dCi is homologated with an average consumption of just 5.3 litres per 100 km, a figure that is not bad at all for moving a car of the size and weight of the Latitude.
As for equipment, as standard it comes with 16″ alloy wheels, chrome exterior trim, RadioSat 3D Sound with MP3, USB and Bluetooth, fog lights, stability control, speed regulator/limiter, multiple airbags, among other features, within the base Expression trim.
The next level of trim is the Privilege, which adds to the previous one bi-xenon directional headlights, Carminat TomTom navigation, rear parking sensor, keyless entry and start, 17″ alloy wheels and a mixed cloth and leather interior. And finally we have the Initiale, which adds to the above 18″ wheels, BOSE sound system, Carminat DVD navigation with a 7″ screen, electric heated leather seats.
Finally, as a curious detail, there is an air ionizer, with a cleaning and relaxation function to purify all the air in the cabin, and it also features a perfume function. We still need to know the prices, but for now the new flagship of Renault looks very promising. That said, it is nothing more than a Samsung SM5 with some tweaks and changes, something that has not gone down well in France.
