Renault unveils two new models within the Hyvia range, powered by hydrogen

The hydrogen fuel cell vehicle division of Renault has unveiled two new prototypes that will be presented in the coming days.

Hyvia, Renault’s initiative for clean mobility, has just announced two new models based on clean mobility, powered by hydrogen. Following the presentation of the Renault Master Van H2-TECH, the brand has shown two new prototypes of hydrogen commercial vehicles with zero CO₂ emissions, increased range and a 5-minute refuelling time.

The Renault Master Chasis Cabina H2-TECH and the Renault Master City Bus H2-TECH are the two prototypes that will be presented over the coming days, and they will be the stars of Solutrans and the Salon des Maires, both in France. Both vehicles are designed for clean mobility and are prepared to fulfil their freight and passenger transport service.

The first of these prototypes is designed for freight transport. It is built to offer intensive use and has been conceived to be used in different configurations, among which a van with a load capacity of 19 m3 stands out, allowing the transport of up to 1,000 kg.

It uses a 30 kW fuel cell which, together with a 33 kWh battery, offers a range of nearly 250 km. The hydrogen is stored in two 1.5 kg tanks, at a pressure of 700 bar. The design of the hydrogen traction system incorporates all the technology developed by Renault and delivers excellent performance.

Renault Master City Bus H2-TECH

The Renault Master City Bus H2-TECH is a clean mobility solution ready to carry 15 people, nine of them seated and six standing. Access to the interior is very practical and easy for people with reduced mobility. It is an ideal vehicle for meeting passenger transport services for companies, public transport and other transport needs.

As for the traction system, it uses the same as the previous prototype, although the hydrogen tank in this case holds 4.5 kg. With this amount of fuel, the range increases to 300 kilometres.

In both cases, refuelling the tank takes only five minutes. This means the vehicle can be ready in very little time. With these two prototypes, Hyvia has now presented three, and they will soon be seen on city streets, taking advantage of their status as zero-emission commercial vehicles.
