Subaru Forester 2022: the Japanese SUV unveils its new facelift
The new facelift of the 2022 Forester has been presented in the Japanese market with a renewed face and fresher than ever

The fifth generation of the Subaru Forester has been updated in our protagonist’s home market with several aesthetic changes that give it a more modern and up-to-date look, various details inside, and improved equipment.
This refresh has come rather early, since the fifth generation we know of the Subaru Forester has been with us since 2019, so it still has a fairly long life cycle ahead in the market. However, brands have recently been updating their cars more frequently, adapting to the latest styles and safety systems to keep their product attractive and current.

Its arrival in Europe is expected within the next few months
The front of the new Subaru Forester has undergone quite a few changes. The first one worth highlighting is its new light clusters with LED technology, featuring a sharper, more angular design, as has been seen lately across the market.

The bumper has also been redesigned with more pronounced shapes, complementing the new headlights and a larger new grille with a fresh design for its air intakes.
The side of the new Forester has remained practically unchanged, except for the new 18-inch alloy wheels that can be fitted. The same goes for the rear, which, apart from a change to the tailgate that was previously painted black and is now body-colored, has seen no further modifications.

In the Japanese market, the new Subaru Forester is offered in four different trim levels: Touring, X-Break, Advance and Sport. In addition, three new colors are added to the optional catalogue, called Autumn Green Metallic, Cascade Green Silica and Brilliant Bronze Metallic.
Changes to the interior have not been detailed, but we do know that this update brings upholstery with greater customization options. The Eyesight safety system that the Forester already had has now been improved by introducing a wider-angle camera that covers a broader field of view.

As for the dynamic side, Subaru has also improved its suspension to enhance handling both off-road and on the road. Finally, the e-Active Shift Control, that is, the system for selecting different driving modes, is now equipped on all versions fitted with the e-Boxer hybrid propulsion system, and it has improved recovery when exiting corners.
No changes to the mechanical side
As for the engine, the new Forester will continue to use the e-Boxer with a 2.0-litre displacement, 150 CV, all-wheel drive and a CVT continuously variable automatic gearbox.
