Super SUV race: Tesla Model X, Lamborghini Urus, Mercedes G 63 AMG and Range Rover Sport SVR face to face

The guys at Carwow have managed to stage one of the most anticipated races, where four super SUVs went head to head in a very intense drag race

We live in a world where the SUV segment is gathering a multitude of traits and features, among which is sportiness. This component, present in the perfect formula for creating an SUV, has led to the birth of models with clear off-road capabilities but, at the same time, capable of delivering performance worthy of a supercar. In this context are models such as the Tesla Model X, the Lamborghini Urus, the Mercedes G 63 AMG Class and the Range Rover Sport SVR, four vehicles that faced off in a drag race organized by the guys at Carwow.

The acclaimed British YouTube channel managed to bring the four models together on the same track to settle what we are all wondering: which is the fastest. Each and every one of the contenders in that race has a powertrain capable of tarnishing the reputation of many vehicles with sporting pretensions, but today they have set aside the rest of the segments to prove who is the king of super SUVs.

On the one hand, we have the Tesla Model X P100D, the electric SUV from the American brand that has several years of experience behind it. The P100D is presented as the most powerful variant of the Model X, as it declares a power output of 613 CV and 1,074 Nm of torque that is delivered almost instantly. However, its rivals have not wanted to fall behind in the power range they reach.

The Lamborghini Urus stands out as one of the most powerful -and innovative- in the comparison, since hidden under its bonnet is a powerful 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine capable of generating 650 CV of power and 850 Nm of torque. These figures translate into a 0 to 100 km/h time of 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 305 km/h.

In the case of the Mercedes G 63 AMG Class, we find a veteran that has known very well how to make the most of its experience, since in its latest generation it has managed to keep its classic character intact but seasoned with touches of modernity and sportiness. Thanks to this, a 4.0-litre biturbo V8 engine lies within, capable of delivering 585 CV and 850 Nm of torque. Last but not least, we must mention the Range Rover SVR, a powerful SUV that houses a 5.0-litre V8 heart that produces 550 CV and 680 Nm of torque.

Once each and every one of the super SUVs has taken its place on the starting line, we can witness how the race begins with a clear winner. The Tesla Model X is the one that takes the lead, both off the line from a standstill and in the rolling race. This is due to the instant delivery of torque, which allows the electric SUV to reach 100 km/h in just 3.1 seconds. In this way, the electric powertrain has managed to get ahead of its most direct combustion rivals, but at the cost of its range and, consequently, its battery capacity.
