Tesla backs Spain: 11 new Supercharger stations in 2021

The charging infrastructure for Tesla vehicles in Spain will be strengthened with the installation of 11 new charging stations across several provinces.

The lack of charging points for electric cars remains an outstanding issue in the charging infrastructure needed to boost the use of electric mobility. Manufacturers are working to install as many of these charging points as possible across the country, so as to improve the use of cars that need electricity to run.

Tesla wants to remain the best-known brand of this type of vehicle and therefore plans to build its own ultra-fast charging stations across Europe. Among its plans is also the possibility for Spain to have this type of facility, designed to recharge the batteries of the brand’s models.

New Superchargers for Spain

There are currently 33 Tesla Superchargers located in Spain, an insufficient number that will soon be boosted by the addition of 11 new installations. These will allow Spain to enjoy one of these Superchargers in several provinces, increasing their presence and making battery charging easier in almost all of them.

That said, some provinces will remain outside the company’s electric map, such as Teruel or Salamanca. However, other provinces that were not included in this list until now will have an installation ready to offer service throughout this year.

In the region of Madrid there will be 3 Tesla Supercharger installations, while in Catalonia 8 Tesla stations will be available. In Galicia two new Tesla charging infrastructures will open, while in the Valencian Community one will be installed in Castellón, another in Valencia Sur and another in Alicante.

The stations in Huesca, Bilbao, Pamplona and Almería make up the rest of the Supercharger installations that will open throughout 2021. The Valencia station will come online during the first quarter of 2021, while the rest are scheduled to enter service during the third quarter of 2021.

It is still unclear whether these new charging points will be equipped with the new V3 Superchargers delivering 250 kW of direct current, something that will reduce car charging times and allow greater agility in cutting charging times and avoid crowding at charging points. Currently, all Tesla models on the market can charge under those conditions, and it would be a good option for offering a better service to Tesla users.
