The Alfa Romeo Stelvio passes the Euro NCAP tests with flying colours
The tests carried out on Alfa Romeo’s new SUV have demonstrated good safety and good crash performance in Euro NCAP

Launching a new model always involves many small tests that are just as important as the big ones. You need to check whether all that work done on the drawing board ends up being what everyone expects, and Euro NCAP tests are vital for knowing whether the vehicle about to reach the market has the safety that we all want. And the new Alfa Romeo SUV, the Stelvio, has achieved the maximum score in this respect.
The Alfa Romeo Stelvio has achieved a 97% result in adult occupant protection, which is especially relevant since, from 2016 onwards, the assessment conditions have been tightened and more demanding tests are carried out to ensure maximum safety in this area. The first SUV in Alfa Romeo’s history has remained stable in the frontal impact test. The critical areas of the front passenger’s body, as well as their limbs, are protected even in the frontal impact test against a rigid barrier.

In the event of a rear collision, the front seats and head restraints work correctly to prevent the feared whiplash. As for the effectiveness of the emergency brake fitted to this model, several tests were carried out at different speeds, as if driving in town, and in all of them the system worked correctly, avoiding several collisions without further problems.
The brand wanted to work to achieve these results and, to do so, has used a rigid and lightweight chassis, which helps prevent injuries in the event of a collision without compromising the vehicle’s weight. Aluminium is widely used in it, making it a chassis that is both lightweight and strong, with a good number of safety features that enhance the driving experience. The suspension has also been designed to work more efficiently and to help increase safety.
This architecture is called Giorgio and is also used in the Giulia, which also received 5 Euro NCAP stars and reinforces the brand’s safety image.
